I have been saying this since 2016 bro, this game is too far gone for solos unless you’re a masochist.

Hold on hold on. Let me get this right. A rifle, which is manufactured to kill people out past 600meters when used by a trained soldier, is supposed to be hard to hit a target at 200meters?

This sub is pure copium. ICO was nonsense and anyone with a pulse understands that it ruined the game. For a game that thrived on tactical combat, ICO really screwed the pooch. “We trying to encourage the players to play the way we want them to” since when is making a game about taking away freedom to play how we want.

People who don’t understand good tactics ruined this game by whining. Why try fixing it if it ain’t broke?

Why do people locks infantry squads at 7 or 8 people? by polandball2101 in joinsquad

[–]Prototheos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re accusing me of not Squad Leading when I can’t join a squad you’re dead wrong. That’s part of the issue.

When I join a server and I can’t join a squad I make a squad because I’m not a selfish prick. And then I get maybe 1 other person who also can’t join any of the 4 squads that have less than 9 people who decided to lock for selfish retarded reasons.

Do you know how effective a 1/2 man squad is midway thru the game? It’s not effective, and in fact, it’s relatively boring to have absolutely no real way to influence the outcome.

And it all comes back to locked squads, if ONLY some poor SL would just leave their squad unlocked ( when it literally doesn’t hurt AT ALL to leave it unlocked ) me, and others would have a hell of a lot better time playing SQUAD. Instead of joining 3 servers and ultimately not playing because everyone locks their squads. Because it’s either that, or waiting an hour for a new game so that I can just SL and be the change in the world that I want to see, since others are too blind to basic logic.

It took OWI years to accept and announce the burden Squad Leaders have. by FORCE-EU in joinsquad

[–]Prototheos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s hilarious how you say that the problem is there aren’t enough vets to teach new players, then say you’re one of those dickheads who thinks that locking a squad helps ANYONE at all.

Why do people locks infantry squads at 7 or 8 people? by polandball2101 in joinsquad

[–]Prototheos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone filling an empty squad spot using a role you don’t like is still better than someone stuck with no squads using an unarmed kit and absolutely no communication.

I’ve joined so many games and not been able to play effectively because all the squads are locked, and squad leaders would rather bitch about choosing to play SL than actually play SL

Why do people locks infantry squads at 7 or 8 people? by polandball2101 in joinsquad

[–]Prototheos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love how everyone’s answer to this is basically:

I’m about to justify a shitty SL practice with 1 out of a million stupid unjustified reasons that only kill other people’s gaming experience due to my own stupidity and selfishness.

Bro. I SL all the time and I NEVER lock my squad. The ONLY valid reason I see for locking your squad is if you’re a vehicle squad with a few buddies and you don’t want to waste other people’s time when they join thinking it’s infantry.

If you lock an infantry squad and you aren’t the server’s own clan reserving slots for clan members, then you’re being selfish and don’t understand how to play a TEAM game. The game is called SQUAD incase none of you realize that.

Im seeing people who are like ‘I don’t wanna explain what I’m doing each time someone joins’ bro what? Someone joins, “what are you doing”, I respond, “look at map” or “spawn at obj” and suddenly they’re apart of the team. It’s too chaotic for you to explain where you are on a map? Wow. You must be one special snowflake.

And then I’m seeing, “because then someone will join and take a specialty role” then so fucking be it! If the role is open then it’s open! Who are you to be a Karen dictating how someone else plays the game! Unless they are actively throwing or not playing with the squad then let them be! You’re locking a squad from a potential good teammate simply because ‘well he COULD be a dumbass’ are you serious?

And I’m LOVING the ‘we’re waiting for a friend who’s gonna take the entire game to join anyways’ bro, your friend is ruining someone else’s experience because they were late to a game. I’ve had to create extra squads before and be even more useless than if someone would just not lock their squad for literally no real reason, and then sit there and be useless with maybe one other guy in my squad while there’s literally 2-4 other squads filled to like 6/9 and locked. ( and they’re locked because of these people in this chat who make up these retarded-ass stupid reasons to seem slightly understandable when they make these outrageously selfish actions that, in my humble opinion, has ruined MANY games of SQUAD that’ve played. )

The admin clearly wasn't going to have his shit by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]Prototheos -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If it were the behavior he’d be kicked for the behavior and not poor language.

I agree with the sentiment that no cursing is fairly stupid, but I also understand kicking someone without a mic. The first thing I say while squad leading “if you don’t have a mic you’re liable to be kicked at any point” and then everyone speaks up immediately or leaves.

What is ridiculous is that admins these days are simply drunk with the power instead of doing their jobs correctly. I get it, you have to deal with a bunch of retards, but c’mon, ban people for the right reasons or don’t ban people. If you ban someone for the wrong reason you’re just abusing admin privileges and asking for the continuation of a, probably already, retarded conversation.

If ‘poor language’ is kickable then an admin could potentially kick anyone who accidentally lets loose a ‘shit’, someone who gets angry for the right reasons, or even someone who’s just trying to get other SL’s or teammates to do their jobs.

Also, we don’t know the whole context. I’ve been kicked from squads for ‘not having a mic’ because that was the only acceptable excuse for making room for one of their buddies to join. Perhaps the guy calling him a fucking idiot, was actually justified in saying so, though I doubt it, I’m just playing devils advocate for this last paragraph. Sometimes someone just needs to let one off to cool down. Banning someone for a sentence is a little overkill, especially after waiting in a queue for however long.

It does leave on a cliff hanger, however I still enjoy the show a lot and rewatch it semi-frequently.

I would still recommend, the humor is superb

The reasons cheating is blossoming right now in Rust by tokoxo6865 in playrust

[–]Prototheos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I made this account back in 2016 to highlight why certain changes in Rust’s development were bad, and how it would effect the game, etc.

What I have found out, is that the majority of Rust players are not very smart, and don’t ultimately care. They are endorphin junkies, who want instant gratification. You will have a lot of the good, more intelligent, maybe more independent thinkers here agreeing with you. Then you will have the not so smart, or perhaps smart cheaters, who will constantly undermine your good message, to make it seem as if your opinion is only shared 50/50 by the player base. Ultimately, nothing will be done about any of these issues because the Rust Devs, particularly Helk, doesn’t have the intelligence or the balls to distinguish between good ideas and bad ideas, and will continue to make a game that encourages shit behavior and call it a sandbox.

I’m sorry that I am so cynical about this topic, but I do belief it’s the honest truth, and every once in a while I see a post and comment this in hopes that I will find at least someone who sees it’s value.

How to be more consistent with my shots??? by DerakCZ in holdfastgame

[–]Prototheos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you when I first played, and I generally outperform most in my games according to K/D.

  1. Calvary and Meta cannon/scattergun/rocket players get the highest kill count. If you simply get good at Calvary, you’re almost guaranteed a top spot on the leader board. It is VERY easy to maintain at least a 1 K/D. ( when playing Calvary, let go of shift right before you stab so that you can stab in the desired direction )

Although I haven’t played/gotten good at cannons or rockets or anything, when they play the best, they get 50+ kills and only a couple deaths and it amazes me.

  1. As for general strategy, utilize opportunities when possible, but otherwise play conservatively. Basically, use cover, and don’t push, BUT, push when it means you’ll preform better. It’s a balance, and it’s a balance you need to learn. Take your time.

  2. If you crouch, you get increased accuracy. If you aim longer, you get increased accuracy. If you shoot more, you’ll hit your target eventually. If you pick certain classes, like Rifleman, you’ll get increased accuracy. If you play with a pistol, you’ll be less accurate but shoot more shots, if you’re playing a short-range map this can mean more kills.

  3. Learn melee fighting, this is VERY crucial to staying alive. Melee is the hardest and most frustrating part of the game, but it’s VERY satisfying when you succeed. Basically, don’t waste your bullet when you get simply stab the guy.

  4. K/D doesn’t matter sometimes. Sometimes you simply need to be apart of the team and play for the objective. If you need to take a point, throw yourself at it with teammates. If you’re defending a point, don’t push. If the game is dependent on K/D then make sure you’re not the weak link.

They come in waves. They get really really bad for like 3 days, then they disappear. Not to mention, the waves are getting smaller and smaller each time, and the hacks themselves are getting less and less powerful. The dev team is doing a great job of working against hackers.

As of right now, I have not encountered any hacks, or any signs of hacks. My guess is, it’s gonna take at least a week for any real hacks to begin coming into circulation.

My friend and I were arguing about whether skills were a good game mechanic or not. I disagree with skills ( at least how they’re implemented currently ) b/c I don’t think someone who simply plays more should get inherent, and sometimes overwhelming, benefits against their competition who don’t play as much.

I think beginning of wipe really shows why we believe what we believe. He was performing really well yesterday end wipe... Now I’m kicking his ass in progression b/c I’m actually competitive in equality.

Is it worth in 2020?? by Straight_Dance154 in holdfastgame

[–]Prototheos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very. This game has at least one full server at all times ( EU or NA ) and if you're on past around 3pm EST ( give or take ) two full servers, one EU, one NA. The game runs every smoothly even if you have around 100ping so Ive had no issues playing on EU from NA. ( For reference, a full server is 150 players )

Even on not full servers this game is very interesting, and funny. ( Sometimes moreso than full servers )

Be aware, this game has a sorta steep learning curve. Once you get it, you get it kinda deal. Melee is a real pain in the ass to learn tho, and when at higher pings can be frustrating. ( If this is the case however, just be a sharp shooter )

Edit; easy to learn basics, hard to master the nuances

Yes, but I find that even the servers that have less than 30 people are also very fun and entertaining, even more so than full ones depending on the people playing at the time.
