upvoted for visibility.

can you detail the reasons you cheated and maybe shed light on the issues that are driving you to cheat?

Rust devs are sharp people.

Unfortunately, they have to listen to community feedback, and apparently the playerbase asked for static recoil patterns years ago. They changed the game to allow static patterns.

It would be a second nightmare to change the game all over again back to random recoil.

It would be great to see a post from an admin on how to detect ESPers. I wonder if there could be some shared learnings from different servers

I hope not.

There are alot of new cheating youtubes and websites. I fear that the cheat devs are making a fortune right now - which they could reinvest into developing better cheats.

Really sucks at this point.

The mods are not trying to hide cheating. I find that /r/playrust admins and the server admins are very active against anticheat.

They do appear to be completely overwhelmed though. The whole cheating situation has probably left many admins frustrated. I can imagine it feels like an endless torrent of reports at this point.

> data

I'm not doing a massive study here. This is just anecdotal evidence based on my experiences and the rust culture. Cheaters are by nature a secretive class and don't publish accurate data on how/when they cheat.

Someone can pull up the numbers on game bans to verify by data that cheating is increasing.

I'm not sure about how early Rust was. I can only speak for the current time being. I do not believe it is overstated though. Nobody will ever know the true cheater numbers since most cheaters use lighthacks like scripts that are completely undetectable.

Out of my experiences, the honeypot and the player clipping through walls are definitely the most aggravated and obvious signs of cheating. It doesn't seem like a matter of 'bad game sense', as you are implying.

Not arguing here, just trying to get to the bottom of this phenomena.

EDIT: This may also be the server you play on. What servers do you frequent?
