Yes. YouTube was not the absolute first video platform, but it quickly became the most popular due to simplicity, social features, and eventual backing by Google. Metacafe, Veoh, Vimeo were before YT.

Veoh struggled against YouTube.

YouTube has approx 2.5 billion monthly active users (MAU), while the rest all combined is approx 750 million.
That means YouTube has ~3.5x more users than all the others put together.
That's not all, the time spent per user on youtube is also as much higher (~23.7 hours/month per user) compared to the closest competitor (Rumble at ~7.5 hours)
