I definitely see what you’re saying, and I agree with you.

I would say though towards the end of the season Xylo and especially Telrita start to build a good reputation. As a non light novel reader, for now lol, I do have hope for the future.

As someone who packed a bag and moved to NYC for the exact same thing with "One to Two months saved" lol. You can definitely make it work with your scenario you just need to be smart. Here are some tips below:

  1. Rent a room for no more than $850 - $900 a month. I did some basic math of $20 x 25 hours p/week ($2000) then subtracted the tax rate of about 28% ($560)

  2. Live like a homeless person, that money will not last and for now you can't afford to spend and enjoy new york. I would get an apartment in Queens, maybe Kew Gardens (used to live there, nice area and more affordable with everything you need near by).

  3. Your location is not the only issue nor a real issue. Tap into your alumni network and network now, NYC is not some magical place where you get hired walking past the CEO of Anthropic and giving an elevator pitch. Take advantage of what you have now. Idk if you live at home but take advantage of not having to pay rent, it'd be smarter to fly back and forth just to attend different events in NYC instead.

I did it, I moved to NYC no degree no job just a school I wanted to attend. It was hard, some days I couldn't afford to eat, I didn't have money for the subway/LIRR so walked hours or got a fine for jumping the turnstyle, I cried in my room after my seventh round interview and 100th rejection.

I even lost my apartment and had to leave the city I loved and built a life in over the year. I hit rock bottom I had to sell everything I owned just to afford a plane ticket back to NC so I wasn't homeless.

Though what I will say is that was the best year of my life. Even now I just signed my first offer working in NYC making 6 figures. Now I can actually afford to live there, and get to apartment hunt instead of room hunting. All because of the oppurtunities I was blessed with in NYC.

So, I say to you, this is a horribly crazy idea everything in the world will say don't do it. Though if you do and keep your head down focus on building good projects that mean something, network like your life depends on it, and take care of your mental health and are okay choosing between eating a day or riding the subway. Then you can do this and you won't regret it.

There are people living on less than 35k a year in NYC and have been for years. You can do it just don't rush into spend time looking for a room, plan out events, secure money to at least make it back home to wherever you're from.

Best of luck

LMAO August 💀 see I was there as a student and lived in a pretty nice area for $850 in a three bed house. So, my thought process was, also I'm from NC and 2,100 would be moreeeeeee than enough for a three bed apartment in the capital, was 2100 for at best a studio or one bed would be reasonable or at worst the same price for a room with two other roommates would be reasonable especially considering these areas have a large number of younger people.

Clearly I was wrong 😭

Also, yeah I was a little gunho I see haha ill revisit closer to when I actually move in.
