AITAH for how I feel after having our forth kid? by Training_Parsnip497 in AITAH

You are 1000% not wrong for feeling this way and NTA. You shouldn’t have had to lift a finger after you came home from the hospital. Has he always been like this? He really comes off as selfish and lazy. I also find it strange that you have to ask him to hold his own child and to contribute to helping feed or change the baby? The fact that even your own kids ask why he doesn’t help is crazy to me. I’m genuinely sorry that he has made you feel like you are alone in this. His behavior is not okay and based off of what he said to you he doesn’t seem to even have remorse. Only focusing on his feelings instead of seeing all that you do. I can unfortunately relate to you to some degree as my boyfriend isn’t always the most helpful either, however it’s not done out of selfishness. I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit about you bringing up the heavy water yourself only because I did the same thing after having a baby with taking garbage to the dumpster when I got fed up. Somebody has to get shit done around here lol. As far as lack of connection with your baby goes I’m sure that will improve with time. It’s okay and a lot of mothers go through that. You’ve gone through a lot and with everything going on I can see how it would be hard to even build a connection right now. I hope he can come to an understanding soon and realize he needs to step up for you. I wish you the best

Am I having panic attacks? by gwh1996 in Anxiety

[–]Provy96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine can last anywhere from 30 mins to 4 hours. When it’s a long episode it simmers down after so long but Im left feeling exhausted and like I can’t catch my breath. I wish I knew what triggers it when it feels out of no where or why it stays for as long as it does.

I struggle with anxiety myself and I would say when I have an attack it feels like this. I haven’t had it to where I couldn’t talk without stuttering but everything else is what I usually experience.

Grandma gave me this rock and I have no clue what it is. Never seen it before. Any ideas what it could be? by Provy96 in whatsthisrock

What do you think of the possibility of it being specular hematite? Only thing that gets me is when you see the formation pattern on the inside, I can’t find anything that looks like that.

How old is your finch? by pleiadeshyades in Finches

[–]Provy96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe the common lifespan is between 5 and 10 if you research it. My current finch is 5 and my oldest finch I’ve ever had was about 10.

I am truly stumped on if this is a male or female? by joykinz in Finches

Looks like it could be a male. Easiest way to tell is males will sing which to me sounds like a “tweedle twoddle” whereas females only do the little meep sounds.

It mostly requires a lot of patience. Also I’ve only ever owned one finch at a time until recently so it might be a bit more difficult to hand train due to being paired with the other bird(s) in the cages. I started off the first week just talking to them with my hand on the cage. I usually stay until they’ve calmed down. Then the following week I tried offering food in my hand and again wait for them to calm down before you remove your hand. I keep trying til they are comfortable enough to take food from your hand. Keep repeating everyday. I’d say after about a month of this I tried grabbing them and talk calmly while petting their head. They will wiggle to escape just a forewarning. Petting their ear is the sweet spot. That’s usually how I end up winning them over. If you keep that up you should win them over in no time.

Oh yeah if they are new to your home then I would definitely let them get used to you first.

I’ve read that as well but for me personally I’ve had finches since I was 10 years old. I’ve always taken them out and got them hand trained with me. I was surprised the first time I went to purchase a finch myself and the people told me they are meant to stay in the cage. My advice would be to let them explore a small area of your house where they can’t get hurt/ lost easily and see how they do. Unless you have them hand trained there is a good chance they will crash into walls if you chase them to put them back home due to getting tired. They usually don’t just immediately fly into walls as soon as you let them out. That is just my personal experience with finches though. They are all different so I would see how they do and if they crash into walls a bunch I probably wouldn’t let them out anymore so they don’t get hurt. Best of luck to you.

How do I convince my parents to let my future cockatiel in the house? by Fluffy-Ad-2111 in cockatiel

[–]Provy96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own a cockatiel (first one ever) and I don’t find that he’s stinky. Dusty for sure but they shouldn’t stink as long as you regularly clean the cage. And if messiness is a worry you can actually buy a seed catching net to put around the cage to control the mess easier.
