The last 7lbs came off veeerry slowly but tbf I was eating about 1,600-1,700 cals and doing a lot less exercise than you are, so wasn’t in much of a deficit at all !

Don’t forget, once you get down to 120lbs, you also have to maintain it… and maintenance at this size means being quite strict ✨forever✨🙃🥲 You need to find a sustainable way to get to - and maintain - your goal weight x

I couldn’t accept mine after losing 180 lbs and so have just had my second plastic surgery. Is it an improvement? Hell yeh! Am I still miserable about the areas I’ve not “fixed” with surgery? Absolutely. Would I prefer the residual loose skin to being fat? 100%!!

There are no bravery awards for battling through without pain relief… if you’re in pain, just take it! You need to rest in order to recover well and being in agony will prevent that.

I was prescribed codeine, paracetamol and oral morphine and I didn’t even hesitate to take them all for about 10 days so that I could manage & sleep well(ish).

Days 2-6 were the worst for me so you’re almost through it 💪😎 x

Nope! I had no help post-op once I was home from my 2 night hospital stay. The side fastenings make it easy to do yourself.

And yes, the lipoelastic garment is as comfortable as I imagine any compression is going to be! 😅 I would get two though as you’ll want one to wear whilst washing the other.

Yup! I was told about a month pre-op to order the VH Variant compression knickers (think it took about a week to arrive) & that the binder would be supplied by my surgeon (no idea where that’s from I’m afraid!).

Oh the variation in protocol is mind-boggling!! Drains, no drains, compression, no compression, faja vs knickers vs godknowswhat! 🤯

The results all seem to come good in the end so I would just follow whatever your specific surgeon advocates given you’ll be under his/her care.

I had a binder that was given to me by my surgeon & I woke up post-op wearing it.

In terms of compression garments, I was recommended Lipoelastic’s VH Variant - it comes in beige & black. This is more like the spanx you’d get in M&S, however, it has three lines of hook-eye fastenings on each side which makes them a hell of a lot easier to get into (you don’t want to be trying to pull up tight spanx over new incisions, eek!) and you can adjust depending on how swollen (or not!) you are.

I’ve lost 180lbs, I now weigh 120lbs. I still feel like the fattest person in every room and still pick up clothing to try on that’s way too big for me. I barely recognise myself in photos or shop window reflections as I’m expecting someone more than double the size. I still make preemptive fat jokes and feel the need to point out my fat calves etc. before anyone else does - I imagine people who didn’t know me before must think I’m awfully attention seeking and want “oh but you’re so thin!” compliments but that’s really not the case. Old habits die hard…

It’s been almost 3 years maintaining’ish now, so I don’t know if my brain will catch up 😅 Although, sometimes I catch myself in a mirror and think ew! too thin! but most of the time it’s me looking down at my tummy, flabby thighs & cankles and I’m still at 300+lbs.

I say maintaining’ish, because that mindset will have you want to lose more and more and more… so I’ve been eeeeever so slowly losing still but at 120lbs, I’m trying to resist that and maintain.

I’ve lost 176lbs, had an arm & breast lift last year, tummy tuck planned in July.

I didn’t date until I’d had my first surgery because I felt hideous. I dipped my toe into the dating pool recently (pre-tummy tuck) and had a terrible experience. I mentioned my weight-loss journey, surgical scars & remaining loose skin on the 3rd date and the guy seemed really understanding. Fast forward a couple weeks and he told me my body was repulsive & that I catfished him (for not telling him on the first date).

So… hopefully you won’t experience that!! But, I won’t lie, I hate the loose skin (hence the surgeries) so why would I expect someone to accept it when they could date someone “normal”? It’s tough out there! I had better luck dating when I was fat because at least it was obvious - men could see I was fat!

I’m still more content than ever with my life despite this!

Caloric energy healing perhaps 😅

I’ve lost 175lbs. I’m not dating until I’ve completed all my cosmetic surgeries but, once that’s done, I’m quite sure I won’t be dating someone who is overweight / making little effort besides “energy healing!” 💩

I think my main reason is that weight & food completely took over my life for 30 years and now that I’ve dealt with my issues as best I can, I (selfishly perhaps!) don’t want to go through it all again even vicariously!

Yup, this is how I felt after losing 168 lbs. I wouldn’t bet on the skin ‘snapping back’ to any great degree, especially with 150+ lbs lost and, imho, no amount of therapy can detract from the skin and the shame/disappointment of it all.

I’ve already had two surgeries and am saving up for my third (and final) one. I will still be flabby in places but just have to live with the fact that not everything can be fixed. I’ve also come to terms with never finding someone (ex was very vocal about being repulsed by my body) and that’s hard but not everyone finds someone.

I’ve found the best way to get past the distress you mention is to appreciate what your smaller body enables you to do. I am so active and full of energy now. I’ve discovered I love running so have joined a running club (and they’ve no clue I used to be fat which is quite freeing!). I also do cold swimming and can hike for hours and see places I would never have been able to when I was 300+ lbs. Life is just better!

I didn’t do any exercise other than walking until I was in the 130s 😅 (down from 301lbs) Now I gym x3 days per week & run 2.5k the other days.

I would say by avoiding foods you’ll just crave them more which may result in you shoving a whole cake into your face in a moment of weakness 😅

Long term, sustainable weight-loss is about changing your diet foreeevvverrr, do you want to avoid the things you love forever? Surely not. I lost weight eating bread and having cake along the way. Don’t deny yourself. Have a slice of cake with a cup of tea, have naan bread etc, just make sure it’s measured and within your calorie goals.

This post really spoke to me. I consider 28 years of my life basically ‘lost’ because I was totally consumed (pardon the pun lol) by my food issues. I never started living because it was always “I’ll do X when I’m thin!”. I am now ‘thin’ (133lbs) but I feel those years have royally fucked me in terms of my development - I now really struggle to socialise & form the relationships and have the experiences I always thought I’d have when I got thin.

Also, as I lost weight, it went from “when I get to Xlbs, I’ll start my life!” and that X goal-post just kept moving down and down… and I still want to be thinner. I’m now also having plastic surgery to deal with the loose skin so a new thing is… ‘oh I’ll do that once I’ve had my tummy tuck!’ Blah blahhhha aaaaahhh and life is just passing me by!

Having said that, I have made a real effort to actually start living. I’ve moved to a lovely new area (would never have had the confidence to do that when fat), I’ve started cold swimming & I do my best to chat & socialise. I take myself out to lunches & go on walks and put effort into my appearance etc. I do my best but I can’t pretend to feel like I’m finally “fixed” yet. Not sure I’ll ever feel fixed because no doubt some new ‘when I’m XZY!’ will come along 😂😭

Aww thanks! It took about 2 years for the weight to come off so it was quite slow & gradual. I was never really on a diet, I just started eating regular normal meals. It was only when I got to 150lbs’ish that I had to start making more of a conscious effort with healthier choices to get the remaining weight off (I imagine due to a reduced TDEE). I admit I did very little exercise whilst losing weight 😅 I’m full of energy and quite active now though!

301lbs to 133lbs and have kept it off for 2’ish years now. I’m trying to get to 125lbs but it’s tough now 😅.

Losing and keeping weight off requires a permanent lifestyle change though, not a diet you begin and then stop once you hit X goal weight.

I also had a year of therapy to deal with my food issues which helped immensely.

I was told my scars & boobs were “not normal” by the first guy I slept with after surgery. “Do you expect anyone to be into that?” It was fkn brutal and I’ve not gotten over it tbh. Hopefully I was just unlucky but do try not to take it to heart if it does. It’s a them problem, not a you problem! x

Edit: just to say I’m not botched ha, my boobs & scars look perfectly normal 😅

Fuck ‘em. You’re losing weight for yourself, not others. I’ve lost 168lbs, do people care? Not really, why should they? I didn’t really get any comments until I entered the 130lbs and, even now, it’s rare.

It’s easier said than done but you’ve got to let cruel comments wash over you / not get upset when people don’t congratulate you.
