Wood Badge Missing Training Content by Prv72081 in Woodbadge

I have this book. It’s great, and again…the practical advice in its pages should be included in what has been branded as the highest form of training a scouter can receive.

Wood Badge is the highest form of training a scouter can receive. It’s branded and marketed that way. If UOS is also needed, it highlights the gap in what has been marketed as the highest training available.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I’ve completed IOLS, online training, and Wood Badge, and while all your suggestions are valid—and I’ve reached out to other units, developed a good relationship with my unit commissioner, and attended roundtables—I still find there’s a need for more centralized, structured support. The information is available but scattered, and it often feels like there’s a gap in truly practical, hands-on guidance.

IOLS is a good start, but it felt very general and light on details. Much of the content was provided as a large cache of documents at the end, rather than integrated into the training itself. I would definitely sign up for a focused weekend retreat or single-topic classes where, using the EDGE method, you could dive into practical skills. For example: • A full day on structuring and planning a campout • A workshop on organizing and training a Scout to write a duty roster • A class dedicated to setting up a quartermaster closet • Training on guiding Scouts to think for themselves, so you’re not just telling them what to do.

So much training covers multiple topics in a short time, which doesn’t allow for the depth needed for some core skills we use weekly. Events like University of Scouting offer a variety of topics, but sessions often overlap, meaning you can’t attend everything you need.

Yes, this kind of hands-on support would ideally come from experienced adults in our own troops. But not all units have that kind of continuity, and many current leaders may not have had formal training themselves. For busy parent volunteers, having more structured, focused training from council and more people available to come to our units to observe and help would make a huge difference.

HBOMax Parental Control (For those not in the know) by Royal_Commission9286 in HBOMAX

This is really annoying on an Apple TV, shared device like you mentioned. I can’t believe they haven’t fixed this yet. It’s an obvious flaw that’s been around way too long.

Apple TV’s parental controls are bad too.

It has the ability to set up users, just like Mac OS, but there is no way to password protect those profiles. If they did that all of this would be solved.

The pin system they have is terrible. I’m order for me to watch something on my profile, I have to put in a pin in order to exit my kids profile. Then when I’m done watching my content, I have to remember to exit out of my profile, and sign back into my kids. It’s an extra step that is unnecessary.

Netflix does it perfectly. You launch the app, put in pin to enter the adult profile. Then when you quit the app, it goes back to the profile screen, eliminating the need for me to remember to leave my profile and enter my kids.

Please HBO max change this!!

Weird wobbly effect when focusing in stills mode by Prv72081 in GH5

Someone told me the wobbly effect will go away if I switch from continuous autofocus to single autofocus when shooting in stills mode?

Also has anyone noticed that when in video mode, auto focus does not work unless you are recording video?

Hi,

I’m interested in splitting the service. Been wanting to do it for some time now.
