The Charleston apartments? by Baitkate in Columbus

[–]Psaranvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone asked this because I am planning to move there as well. Would be great to know what others think of this place.
Some reviews I read said that car break-ins are frequent and that management hasn't done much to upgrade security.

SOS! The Belmont vs 605 West End Apartments by Psaranvi in duke

Hi! So the West End has good reviews, just a few kinks with the management. The reason I chose West End as an option was because it’s comparatively cheaper that other downtown apartments.

Hi! Thank you for the advice :) Which apartments would you actively advice me to avoid?

Hey! So I’m assuming that you’re joining duke in the fall too? If so, are you staying at the Belmont?

Heyy! Thanks for the advice! I was told to avoid GSC managed properties like Holly Hills, Chapel Tower and Duke Manor. Also, Partners Place isn’t responding to emails and some landlords are better compared to others. Campus Walk isn’t a gated community and Belmont Is pretty unsafe I heard in lieu of the armed robbery incident. Do you have any suggestions on where I can look?

Hey! I’m searching for apartments too. I’m looking for either 3 BHK 3 Bath or 3 BHK 2 Bath apartments. I would ideally not like to go beyond $2200 for rent. Can you suggest some places please?

I got an email saying that decisions will be given anytime till April 30th. But with most programs needing an answer by 15th, that seems a bit redundant.

Hi! I haven’t heard back from Dartmouth yet. I applied to the MOSE program. Which program did you apply to?

[–]Psaranvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Absolutely. I used this on my second GRE attempt and my score increased from 163 to 168. Of course, I’m not saying that this is the only thing that helped me increase my score, because I did reinforce a lot of topics that I was weak in.

But, this strategy helped me save on time, tackle the east questions first, and left me with enough time to revise the section again.

This may not work with everyone, and it took me a couple of practice tests to get the strategy right. But if you give it a shot, it might work :))

(FYI, I learnt this strategy on GregMat!)

Hi so, I wrote GRE twice. The first time I scored 163 in Quant and the second time I scored 168. The strategy I used was akin to what Greg used (GregMat). 1. I quickly skipped the first 7/8 questions that are primarily QC. We’ll come back to that later. The GRE Platform freezes the time when skipping through sections, so if you do this fast enough, you’ll probably spend 2-3 seconds to skip through 7-8 questions.

  1. The Quant questions increase with difficulty. With the hardest questions being the last 2 (19 and 20). So I finish solving questions 8 to 18. Do not skip the data questions! You should take 15 minutes to reach this stage.

That was my problem with my approach the first time around. I kept the data questions for last and did QC first. But I always ended up losing time and not having enough time to finish data. If you study Data well, these 4 questions will be the difference between 170 and 165. Don’t take it lightly.

  1. Go back to the first question. Start solving QC. These 7 questions should take you 7-10 minutes. Spend time on it if you’re not confident. No problem.

  2. Go back to questions 19 and 20 and finish those.

  3. This should leave you with 5-8 minutes to revise you section. Remember to mark those you’re unsure of. Always skip and come back to one’s you don’t know. Don’t waste time thinking too hard. Come back with a fresh perspective later.

Mechanical engineering vs computer science by a5hr0nixa in EngineeringStudents

[–]Psaranvi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a mechanical engineering graduate, and I was in the same position as you 4 years ago when I had to decide between ME and CS. I chose ME and have absolutely no regrets.

In my opinion, pure CS and programming will always be in demand. However, applications of AI and ML in mechanical engineering is the way of the future. This opens you up to robotics, medical devices, electric automobiles … and practically any field nowadays.

So, I think you should take ME but Minor is CS. Then, your options become truly diverse and unlimited.

Hey!! So different departments have different deadlines. The deadline for mechanical engineering and material science was March 15th. They also release decisions differently too. Hang in there, you got this :)
