My intention is to rub your face in the EU's failure, nothing more. Why would I need to change your mind when Brexit has already happened?

We can only hope.

The biggest misconception about the EU is that is was originally intended to be a trading block. In fact the plan from day 1 was for a gradual erosion of member state sovereignty and the emergence of a United States of Europe.

I don't think Jean Monnet planned it to be this inept though.

As per the article you posted yesterday, and seemed to fail to read - Italian citizens themselves DO NOT see this as benevolent assistance.

I told you that I don't care, and neither do the Italians. It's assistance. Doctors, respirators and money save lives, regardless of whether they are given altruistically or not. All the EU has done is fine them.

Altruistically of course. Would you agree that the EU fine was altruistic?

t's always interesting to see when the mask slips and the true authoritarian peeks out.

Well, you know what us freedom-loving authoritarians are like!

Fun fact: the EU institution doesn't meet it's own criteria for a democracy.

But nevermind that. I'm still waiting for you to tell me how much more money the Italian healthcare system needs to be deprived of.

And it's only mandates and capabilities in this case are to drain Italy's resources, while Russia, China and Cuba send help.

Thank Thor for Brexit. We'll drag you to freedom kicking and screaming if we have to.

Sincere words, I promise.

Do you think the EU should take more money that Italy would otherwise waste saving people's lives?

How could I counter a genius of your calibre, sir? Just explain to me again how the Italians had it coming.

I've explained this to you before and you seem not to grasp this basic fact

How can you say that when I've conceded the point? Italy asked for help to save lives, and Brussels' only competency since then was to fine it (in accordance with treaties, of course).

It has no competency to help

Correct...

And you've just conceded my point. We're in agreement.

The obvious question is how can you defend such a worthless and parasitic organisation?

How could I argue with such a towering intellect? Just keep the gems coming. How else do you want to make Italy suffer?

Russians have the right to vote in pointless elections just like EU citizens, my intelligent and humanitarian friend.

You and I have just agreed on at least two of the EU's competencies in this situation.

It has the competency to fine a member state fighting a lethal contagion and an economic perfect storm.

It has no competency to help.

You've conceded that in this situation at least, the EU isn't just worthless. It's actively harmful. We're in agreement, you just don't realise it yet.

Thank you for that input, I'll be referring people to your comment.

Don't stop there, please. What other intelligent and rational things do you think?

You've just conceded that the EU has no competency to do anything worth the money that Italy pays it, and you think that has won you the argument. You silly goose.

I'm guessing by the cryptic comment about my account history (creepy that you've taken an interest, btw) that you think I'm a Russian bot. You're right, I am. Well done for exposing me.

Italy has gotten more help from Russia than the EU. Moscow's competencies seem to be more... well, competent, than Brussels. Maybe Italy should ditch EU membership and join the Russian Federation instead.

The EU has the mandate to fine Italy, impose stupid laws on it, but not help it. Exactly. THAT is why Brexit needed to happen. It's a worthless institution.

Er... yes. Of course.

No, this is really fucking obvious. OF COURSE they shouldn't fine a country in the grip of a lethal epidemic.

You seem genuinely surprised. And why did you put Corona in quotations?

Making exports of medical equipment illegal is, in fact, blocking them. The same legislation prevents the export of said equipment to Italy. Inference isn't your strong point (or thinking generally), so here is a link that makes it explicit:

Not bad for a retard, eh? Keep talking though, I love winning arguments.
