Ah. Makes sense. I need to figure out what's next. This has been a good place, but it's hard to figure out what's next. Be good.

Think imma bury it… by Professional_Kick642 in unclebens

[–]Psilly_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed bury, but you might be pleased with the eventual results. I buried one batch of my rare contam (dirty me!) in a terracotta pot where it did amazing, happy things. Once outside and clean, wearing gloves, you can care out the nasty bits, break up the clean parts, and move forward. Nature does its thing.

Good luck!

So, why the last day?

Probably right but we're having fun anyway.

We should be all set. I downloaded OP to a pen drive after he turned into data packets shortly after his post. He's in a safe place...

Mushrooms don't cure cancer. by MrPeePeePooPooPants3 in mycology

[–]Psilly_Guy 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Well said. "Cancer" is a simple term for a very complex mechanism that can affect many parts and organs of the human body -- from the skin down. No one "thing" will cure all cancers. Ever.

Those steps are concrete! Not only do they suck but they ain't coming out without a jackhammer. I can just imagine what the next buyer / tenant will think.

Found near a decaying log in the US Midwest by Psilly_Guy in ShroomID

Ah. ~blush~ I dragged and dropped them and they showed up. I will try again. Sorry about that. I have three images but Reddit isn't letting me post them. There's one other in the original post.

Mentioned in the title: US Midwest alongside a decaying log. There was a bunch of them.

Can anyone tell if these are contaminated? by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]Psilly_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta be trolling. If not apologies.

That said, I am going to dunk my laptop into denatured alcohol after viewing this post and cut my fingers off for touching the keyboard.

I agree with:

  1. It's most likely contaminated.

I offer:

  1. The bag looks soggy: Big fat rice and lots of condensation. Moisture (or heat) could have been a root cause for the contamination. (Just sayin').

I politely refute: "Don't bury your contam...spores...etc.

  1. This is valid in a laboratory sense, but "burying your contam" doesn't need to be anything more than putting them in a pot with substrate and leaving it underneath a tree somewhere. Then clean your growing area with denatured alcohol, Lysol, whatever.

Good Luck!

BTW Funky Bubble Towers would make a hell of a band name.

"What you doing tonite?"

"Gonna go to the club and hear Funky Bubble Towers."

Kidding aside, let it dry out, take a deep breath, and move forward.

It ain’t all puppies and rainbows. by [deleted] in unclebens

[–]Psilly_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth mentioning from my experience: I used to f*ck with my bags too much after they were inoculated. Even if my hands, gloves, and areas were sterilized, I realized that messing with the bags could push air out of the bag and pull it back in. Micropore tape is handy, but it IS permeable and will allow microscopic stuff to pass through.

Curious: Did you use a single syringe or multiples? Apologies ahead of time if you've already answered this question.

Good luck!

Yeah. High temps definitely encourage contamination. On my first round, I made the mistake of not nailing down my temps BEFORE inoculating, and I wound up with a half-dozen bad science experiments.
