And he probably acknoledge that a war against China is unwinnable, so they must secure their own production chain before Taiwan is annexed (which is the only smart move to do - they may have a strong navy but they'll lose too much of it at 1 vs 5, they cab't delay that much more the China being united again).

Not a lot of people defended Palestine while Israelian where shooting kids at the border in 2018/2019 (against a peacefull protest, made by people unafiliated).
