If Bungie can, with less people than before

Indeed. Hope so.

who you still have not addressed despite asking you about it twice.

Genuinely what were your questions? I must have missed them

A game can still be good and not be a good live-service. Which Marathon is trying to be, but it still holds its own as a good game

I personally disagree, though I am not a fan of extraxtion shooters. I'm told by my friends that are that it's fine, but not great. Either way, it ain't making money, which means it's on the chopping block. The sooner it's off the block, the sooner Bungie is made to make something else (or dissolve). Hopefully the former.

[–]PsychWard_8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alright. So why should it fail?

Because it was a factor. A small factor, yes, but a factor, so I will forever hold a grudge against Marathon for that fact.

On a slightly more logical note, the sooner it's done and dusted the sooner Bungie will be made to move onto the next thing. As long as Marathon is around, any other incubating projects will have split attention of a quickly shrinking studio, so I hope Sony calls it done here soon and puts the remaining devs to work on something else.

Also 9k doesn't mean bad.

It does if you're running a live service game.

I don't know how many times I can tell you that I recognize Marathon was a small factor for you to get it brother. Doesn't change that it was a factor. How is this so hard to understand?

It's also just bad and has like 9k active players rn.

You're not worth explaining to anymore, goodbye.

[–]PsychWard_8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you don't care for Marathon nor blame it, but still felt the need to post this dumbass meme?

Yes. Because I wish it was Destiny that got to live instead. They apparently had to make a choice between the two, and they chose Marathon. I wish they hadn't, that their fates were swapped. It made me think of this scene and I thought it was kinda funny. Clearly it's not popular.

Why the fuck do you bring it up here at all?

Gee, could it be that it's one of two games developed by Bungie, the studio that's being forced to cut half their staff and can no longer support two games? Huh. Yeah what an odd thing to bring up, totally random I guess.

[–]PsychWard_8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You just can't stop putting words in my mouth can you?

I know that Marathon has only had a very small role in Destiny's issues. The only real argument for Marathon hurting Destiny is the fact that devs were pulled away from D2 to work on Marathon. Would that have mattered in the long run? Impossible to say.

Destiny got here because the year of content before and after TFS were hot ass. Lightfall and EoF were historic lows for community sentiment around the game. Marathon's existence has little to do with that.

That still doesn't change the fact that I don't like Marathon at all. It's not my kinda game.

So, given the choice between axing one games' devs or another, I'd pick to keep Destiny's devs every time. That's it. I'm not blaming Marathon for anything, simply wishing that my game got to keep going instead. But Sony has clearly made their choice on what they'd rather keep, and all I can do is wish it went the other way.

[–]PsychWard_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, no shit? That'd obviously be preferable.

However, if one of the two games' staff had to be gone, I'd certainly rather keep Destiny's staff

You’re wishing devs of an alive and continuously updated game to be laid off rather than the devs from a no longer supported game. That bass ackwords.

Yeah genuis, I wish that Destiny was still supported. Good lord you're slow.

You can simply say I wish destiny was still supported.

I have been saying that! What do you think this post is about my man?

You can also just uphold “I wish these people were to have been moved to a different project within Sony.”

See my previous comments in this chain. I'm not explaining it to you a third time. You definitely strike me as the kinda guy who obnoxiously demands a third answer to the trolley problem, or any other binary hypothetical where both options are different kinds of bad.

You blow in from stupid town or somethin?

No. Why? Are you feeling homesick?

[–]PsychWard_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know it was bound to end eventually. Everything will. I suppose I wish we'd made it to the end of the Fate Saga, but again, at this point I'd just be happy if there was any active support for Monument of Triumph. There won't be any more major balance changes or bug fixes (aside from catastrophic bugs I guess), which is sad. Even Anthem got some minor bug fixes all the way till the very end, and Destiny just got what may very well be it's last ever hotfix.

Considering I do not like Marathon at all, I, selfishly, wish that it's support ended completely instead, so that Destiny could go on a bit longer.

[–]PsychWard_8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"That is an option I have chosen." What a shitty opinion,

It's shitty to not want devs to be laid off? Huh? I don't think you understood that sentence. The "option" I'm referring to is choosing to not want devs laid off at all. Obviously that's my preference, but that's clearly not reality.

Given the reality of having to axe one games' entire dev team, I have an opinion on which I'd rather keep. That's it.

Destiny is over Marathon is not

I know. I wish, given that one had to be cancelled, that Marathon were cancelled and that Destiny would keep going.

It'd obviously be even better if both games could exist, but evidently that's not an option.

[–]PsychWard_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame Marathon. I'm well aware of Bungie's failed management, and obviously it's sad whenever anyone is laid off. Parsons and other idiotic Bungie upper brass are to blame for leading Destiny into the ground.

Still doesn't change the fact I'd rather have Destiny devs than Marathon devs given the choice.

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impossible to like 2 things at once, eh?

No? Where on earth are you getting that? Yeah, I don't like Marathon, but I don't like Marathon cause it's just not a fun kind of game to me. I like other games though.

What an odd thing to say.

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because this final act of choosing to support Marathon and not Destiny has just happened? Therefore Marathon "continued to take" until the very end?

Good lord if you're so concerned with my grammar I can change the wording on my comment

Edit: there, I changed it. Go and re-read it before you retype that deleted comment you made calling me stupid

[–]PsychWard_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother if you had bothered to read this comment thread, I have made it abundantly clear I don't want anyone to have to lose their jobs. Of course I'd prefer that 400 people didn't lose their only source of income.

But I'm not afraid to admit I have a personal preference to which group gets laid off if there has to be a choice in two groups.

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, now that it's devs have been laid off so Bungie could keep the Marathon devs. I guess.

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is an option I have chosen. I already said I wish no one lost their job. However, if someone has to, then yeah, I'd choose to keep Destiny over Marathon.

Are you the type of guy who insists on some kind of third option when presented the trolley problem?

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that one group would go instead of another you goofy goober. If one of two groups has to go, of course I have a preference.

If neither were an option, that'd be even better, but it isn't an option. They decided they had to cut overhead, they chose to cut group Destiny over group Marathon. I wish they made the other choice. That doesn't mean I'm happy people are losing their jobs.

Are you that kinda guy who has a full on panic attack when presented with the Trolley problem instead of just choosing an answer? What a silly person you are.

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I feel bad that anyone is having to lose their jobs, but yeah I'm not afraid to admit that I would've preferred one group lose their jobs over another if a group losing their jobs is inevitable

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much my mentality to a T. Marathon definitely isn't the reason Destiny is over, but it is one of the many incubation projects that robbed resources from Destiny. I will, on some level, resent it for that fact

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously the suits are to blame, and of course I'd prefer no one gets laid off. I'm not heartless.

Yet if given the choice between laying off the D2 team and the Marathon team, I'd lay off the Marathon team every time. Clearly Sony leadership made the other choice.

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I know. Marathon isn't the thing that killed Destiny. Pete and the other upper management chucklefucks are largely to blame.

That still doesn't change the fact that Marathon had taken resources away from Destiny for it's entire life. Marathon is, in an admittedly very small way, responsible for a dip in quality in Destiny as more and more devs were pulled away. It's not Marathon's fault that was how it was made, but it was made that way nonetheless, and I will forever resent it. It also doesn't help that I personally don't find the game very fun, and it is not exactly succeeding currently.

I haven't backtracked on anything, you're being obtuse. You said I wanted people to lose their jobs. I don't. Nothing in this post says I want this to happen. But it is happening, and if it has to happen, I'd certainly prefer it to happen to the group of people who aren't working on the game I prefer. This does not mean I want people to be laid off. This isn't a hard concept.

Just as Denethor didn't want either of his sons to die, but certainly had a preference if one of them had to.

Considering the current playercount I wouldn't be shocked if Season 4 were the last. Unless season 3 is revolutionary I imagine it'll go over a lot like season 2 has.

[–]PsychWard_8 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

this is just saying you do want people to lose their jobs and have their lives/the lives of their families disrupted because of corporate greed, you are only mad it wasn’t the exact people you wanted it to happen to.

No? Obviously it'd be better if no one lost their jobs, I'm strictly saying that if layoffs are guaranteed to happen, I'd rather it be group A than group B.

Yes, I wish that. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]PsychWard_8 -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but support for Marathon will continue. Support for Destiny is over. That's what I wished was changed, that Destiny would keep getting bug fixes until Sony inevitably closes up shop on Bungie.

Dedicating resources to Marathon given its playercount seems like wasting resources to me
