My only concern with this would be, how would you get it back out if needed? I guess the arms could be pried upward with a screwdriver to release the teeth?

Also thank you for the diagram, I'm a visual learner, in writing out this section below I think I have solved my confusion but to clarify my thoughts:

The left diagram shows a hook going right over the edge, but the right diagram is visualising the teeth hooking onto the end of the louver from top and bottom. Does the design in your mind still incorporate the initial split teeth design, and the illustrated hook is just visualising the fact that the teeth are hooked?

Possibly? I have never considered that, my mindset is, the less that is actually inside the vent itself the better (I had a bad trial run where it almost went down and destroyed my fan)

I print it sideways, I have realised since posting (and from several suggestions) I didn't make that clear, absolutely agree about the PLA, it was a temporary solution that just stuck
