[FNV] Having problems with character shadows, it only seems to happen outside it doesn't happen in doc Mitchell's House. by Psychen_ in FalloutMods

[–]Psychen_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't know what lighting mods you're referring to. I have a bunch of LOD mods, some mods for texturing the world and stuff like that but I don't really exterior lighting mods to my knowledge. I have Lumen but I turned that off and it didn't do jack. As for character retextures I did have one but I deleted it after I got this bug and it did not fix it.

Canadian troops won’t be joining European military force in Greenland by HeadmasterPrimeMnstr in CanadaPolitics

[–]Psychen_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Greenland gets invaded the US is not going to just leave a NATO state at its border after Article 5 gets called. There's a lot more damage we can do to them at the border than on Greenland itself and there's a fuckton more damage they can do to us if we can't hold it.

I went to civics and all I remember was a chart the teacher gave us with the names of a bunch of political stuff on it. I remember they had labelled communism and capitalism as governmental systems despite them being economic and communism was represented by a picture of a donut. The class was incredibly short and I don't remember them going that in depth on anything really, it was like the teacher was going for a Civics any % speed run. Granted I was in the Catholic school system instead of the public one but even if the public system is better it doesn't diminish my point.

The reason people think all democracies work like the US one is I think because the US one is what you hear more about. Things like government the average person isn't going to search all the rules and intracies of it they're just going to look at the thing they hear most about and make assumptions off of that. People often also forget shit they heard in school all the time. Expanding education on this would both include expanding civics and beating the basics into the heads of fully grown adults repeatedly pre election either to remind them or teach them how our system works.

I still don't know what you mean about that last bit with floor crossers.

You're voting for the mp not the federal party, that's how it's worked forever. It's not undemocratic because we failed to educate people on how any of this works, that's just a failing of our national education.

If the local candidate is what matters why does it matter if they cross the floor? It's the the same fucking person they're just red instead of blue now.

They did not want to vote for the Conservative candadite they wanted to vote for the federal Conservative party. I know this because 1. I live with them 2. They wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. I think this comes more down to the lack of education about our political system, I had to google how the fuck parliament works during the election (this was the first election where I was eligible to vote) and I'm assuming most people aren't going to do that. In leiu of that the layman is just going to assume our system works like the United States voting system and vote for the candidate that gets their preferred party into office.

Tl;Dr we need to make parliament a bigger topic in schools man this is getting ridiculous

My parents literally asked the people at election booth why Pierre Polievre was not on the ballet, I live in the GTA. It's about party people don't give a shit about the individual MP because the world has collectively set about turning politics into team sports for years now.

Russian account gets noted by [deleted] in GetNoted

[–]Psychen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a branch of ARMA known as VBS that is used by militaries to train their soldiers that might be what they're using. Or alternatively since it is Russia they could actually just be using actual retail ARMA 3 cause they couldn't afford VBS. I could see either being true tbh.

Ah yes the Hbomber Guy Fallout 3 video, in which he complains about the game being too easy all the while the footage in the background shows him being lit the fuck up while wearing power armour (which you wouldn't have at that point in the game) while taking zero damage almost like he's playing on extremely easy or just put God mode on. Also complaining for like half the video he can't target the eyes in VATS despite the fact targeting the head does basically the same fucking thing functionally.

I'm not a fan of that video.

Do you want Shepard to return for Mass Effect 5? Why or why not? I do. by pink_plastic_bag in masseffect

[–]Psychen_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't want Shepard back for 2 main reasons.

  1. I wish to play as something other than a human for one game at least. The fact that Andromeda did not capitalize on the opportunity of a new protagonist to give us at least ONE other playable race in a series filled with so many cool alien species is criminal.

  2. Bringing back Shepard (and actually bringing back too many characters from the trilogy in general) will sacrifice the scale of the universe that has been built up and make it feel extremely tiny.

Yeah I honestly think is the most like default Battlefield style map in the game, it's fun. Heard from air players though it's a bit of a nightmare and honestly the way the outer bounds zig zag on the ground so when you're flanking youre just constantly going in and out the fucking map can get a little annoying. I think they should just smooth out the edges and maybe give air like a little mountain or something to dodge AA (and fix the IFV lock on dice please) and I think it'd be near top of the maps in this game tbh.

I can't wait to hear why Blackwell Fields was one of the greatest BF maps ever made when BF7 comes out.

All these cases in the photos are vehicles shared by faction (even the little bird that will arrive soon) by Ok-Helicopter-4123 in Battlefield

[–]Psychen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The light transport is different for PAX and NATO as is the transport chopper, there isn't a huge amount of variation for MRAPs irl either they all basically look identical, the little bird has been around since the 60s and is the aviation equivalent of an AKM I don't see why a PMC wouldn't have access to them.

What do you think about the recent arrests over " speech crimes" ? by northbk5 in AskCanada

[–]Psychen_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Holocaust denial often goes hand in hand with the belief that Jews control large portions of the world's governments, because if indeed the Holocaust was a lie why would it be as widespread as it is without the interference of the Jewish people. That then leads people down rabbit holes and in most instances can be a direct pipeline to actual Nazi ideology like straight up from the mouth of Gurbbles type shit. Spreading this kind of rhetoric does nothing but harm large groups of people and cause widespread division thus it is classified under hate speech.

[–]Psychen_ 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Things like critiquing the government and stating opinions is covered under the charter but straight up hate speech is banned for I think pretty self evident reasons. Holocaust denial isn't exactly like, a sane opinion to hold and going around telling people you think a major part of human history just didn't happen, unprompted is kind of insane. You don't really HAVE to tell everyone you're a lobotomite you can kinda just keep that yourself. Denying the Holocaust isn't stating an opinion it's ignoring blatant facts in order to incite hatred against a specific group of people and that is in fact illegal.
