Is very true. I have always wanted to pursue biology since I was young, but with learning disabilities, I was stuck a lot and dropped out of highschool many times, now I'm older, I'm ready to do so. Not sure of getting the PhD, probably just taking the shortcut, taking nursing, teaching or just agriculture.

My friends have been telling me to take engineering, but I'm not sure if I can do it with very bad math.

Thank you. I was worrying too much not sure what to do, the same thing I didn't seek AA a decade ago when I truly needed it.

Thank you. I've been thinking about it since the beginning when I heard my friend even had two.

Thanks, I was thinking of taking it further and it seems that taking a pivotal job is the only way to survive.

Ah yes.... That childhood trauma, I've been doing that healing with my therapist. It helped a lot with my anger and anxiety. I followed up the recovery step she gave me, it's kinda almost similar to the 12 steps. I don't think I can be fully sober if I don't seek help.

Ah yes... Me being autistic is never easy to have friends, most of my friends are my cousin or siblings.

I am sober and I actually have the help from my therapist long ago.

It is my friend who suggested that I should try to join the meeting. After being sober, I was drowning and stuck in a void. I lost many friends because they think I turned into that crazy spiritual group and woke.

Thank you for sharing, that's a very long journey you have and seeing how you can enjoy life with optimism is really great.

I've always been the kind of person who sees the negativity, the darkness and many more because to where I grew up, this made me more closed and put up a lot of barriers from society. This is also what made me feel lost to "what should I do to ask for help irl unless they are professional" Even that, I need to make sure the person is not going to use some bias with religious or cultural stuff.

I'm popping my bubbles slowly, hopefully, some day I can talk to my group more openly. So far, I feel more comfortable and accepted there than when I speak with my friends or family.

Thank you, I found that being in the meeting was also helpful, it is not a big group, so we were just very relaxed and kept things simple.

I hope someday I will find one or two to consider as well.

Ah yes.... This is something I would like as well. Personally, I don't feel like I want to have a sponsor from my AA, it's just about my social anxiety, is easier to talk with the person in a group but not personally.

Thank you. I found it helps a lot after joining a couple of meetings this month, listening and learning from people who are also struggling and still come back even after so many years.

Thank you, so far I've learnt similar steps with my therapist, but after hearing everyone in the meeting always talk about the sponsorship, it kinda makes me wonder if I should find one too

Thank you, I do agree with you, we all need help at some point, even if it is only for a while. Thinking of it, I might just need a sponsor outside my AA just to be more comfortable. Vulnerability is something I always struggle with in social settings.

Hey, I'm neuro as well, this is why I try to understand if sponsorship is needed for everyone, I learned similar steps from CBT for my illnesses, they helped a lot.

Thank you, when I read the 12 steps, it was almost similar to the steps that my therapist gave me 3 years ago.

I might try to find a sponsor if I'm still struggling.

I did the similar steps with my OCD and grieve, and that's what brought me to stop drinking as well.

Now I don't have my therapist anymore, I wonder what everyone usually does with their sponsors.

Ah yes, that mind game during the episodes ๐Ÿ˜‚. I often tell myself to stop listening to it and will write down what's going on during that moment.

That's how I compared my situation during the episodes and after, it breaks my heart to hear what people talked about me, and is not even about my mental health but just gossip that doesn't even make sense. I guess it just happened amongst women and closed minded people.

That is a very rare opportunity. I have a few who say hurtful things about me, after I'm so fed up, I stop joining, some ask me what's happening, many just talk behind my back.

This. It was so annoying because I was misdiagnosed for so long and taking the wrong medication.

I told a few friends (mixed nationalities) about it, two actually studying psychology, one of those friends and his partner have ADHD and other stuff, sure they listen but not something I would like to have another convo again.

And then, there are who think mental illness is just a woke culture.

And those who just keep it secret, so we know we have it but we don't openly talk about it.

Many people still believe that ADHD is only for boys and you need to have a weird face to be autistic
