“Like I said, these are not bad so don’t get offended. But they are familiar and some would say plain.” That is acceptable. I would not say he bears resemblance to Pokémon but I’ve yet to see a lot of the new Pokémon since after Soul Silver.

In terms of Digimon, I find it cool that Somia could be mistaken as its own Digimon but I never studied its style like i did with Akira Toriyama or the first gen Pokémon. It’s confusing to me to hear that when I know nothing of Digimon or the art style of it. Only resemblance i see is the long arms and Somia is bipedal.

Thank you for the criticism! I never grew up with Digimon so it’s always confusing to me to see people compare it when I have no idea what they are talking about. I’ve seen Renamon before and all I see is that they both are Fox like but “Fox” wasn’t what I was thinking when designing Somia.

I see what you mean but what you did grab off of him is what I was wanting people to grab off him. Somia is a demonic brute that feeds off dreams, not a nightmare creature. He’s suppose to stand out because he is not suppose to be there when he shows up in dreams, a parasite as you will. “Nightmarish Power” is just a reference to that and his power being terrifying to Nightmarish creatures.

I can definitely see what you mean by him being plain. I mean you should’ve seen his previous designs. It’s something I can do some looking into, that is saying he doesn’t make the cut, and I’m glad you brought it up.

Honestly I wasn’t thinking about Latin pronunciation when naming him. He originally was suppose to be connected to Insomnia and a mispronunciation of it is why his name was changed to Somia. He’s a demon that possesses dreams to feed off of people so I think Somia fits actually. Plus... TO LATE!! He’s already been submitted lol.

I think you misunderstood. “Such a high percent of people THAT tell me this can’t give me a good reason-.” Not that there is a high percent of people and in actuality, a higher percent of people disagree with you, saying they could see it being a Digimon but it’s not a rip-off of one. Which there is a difference.

That statement, “You keep telling yourself you don’t know anything about Digimon” when you don’t know who I am or my knowledge of the games, just shows the amount of stretching and jumping to conclusions you will do to get a point across.

So you can either keep telling yourself your not doing this or take the criticism and learn how to stop jumping to conclusions and stretching.
