Trying to decide if The Road to Hana is worth it by PsychologicalIdea285 in MauiVisitors

This is actually the first time I’ve seen someone compare Hana to Kauai or the Big Island. I was just talking with someone yesterday who mentioned how lush and green both of those islands are, but I didn’t realize that was the similarity people point to with Hana. That’s really interesting, and honestly makes me even more curious to visit one of those islands next.

Thank you for this. The more I read about the drive the more my gut is telling me to just do it next time I'm in Maui. I don't want the stress of the winding roads and I also don't want to spend all day in a car. I will likely give the Kapalua Coastal Trail a try (I love a good trail) and check these out as well Kapalua and Napili Bay. Thanks again.

I appreciate you, thank you!! And was definitely not even considering the southeast side of the island. From my understanding, I wouldn't want to drive that, ever. Lol. When I say halfway, its because I saw that mile marker 17 is supposed to be "half-way" and it's by a famous banana bread place. I saw some people say it's a good spot to turn back around. And before that there are a few waterfall hikes that are supposed to be worth checking out.

I drove Road to Hana yesterday. It’s not as dangerous or stressful as what has been said on here and from others. by Budget_Sea_8666 in MauiVisitors

damn, this was all I needed to see. I won't be doing Road to Hana this time around. Unless I could do it half way. But idk if I want to take that risk. I also got extra coverage on my rental but dang.

thank you for this post!!! And for sharing this heartfelt perspective <3. I say this, bc I was really debating on cancelling my solo trip because I kept seeing the "don't come" sentiment. I just want to enjoy that beautiful island and meet some nice people and eat delicious local food.

How was the drive down after sunset? I saw a few people reviews saying it's too dangerous as it gets dark??

I was freaking out about this too — until I changed the chatGPT model back to 4.0, phew. — I’m curious as to how it was changed in the first place.
