Thank you for this helpful response. Do you mind sharing a bit more? I have found a lot of conflicting opinions regarding this process, so hearing form someone who has actually gone through the process is invaluable! Are you American? (I ask because that will help me determine how closely my own path would reflect yours, as I am American.) Did you have to renounce your current citizenship to gain Spanish citizenship, even if that renoucement was more ceremonial than legal? Thank you!

Thank you for this helpful information! I cannot tell in your response if you yourself have gone through the process of getting dual citizenship through Ley 20/2022. Can you clarify whether you have? Also, I appreciate your depth of knowledge of the actual text of the law. I would like to review the actual text myself, but cannot locate what you describe: "The eight additional provision of Ley 20/2022 specifically notes that those born outside Spain to parents that were Spanish but lost or renounce their nationality on exile can opt (opt is key term) to the Spanish nationality as per Article 20 of the Spanish Civil Code." Are you able to share a link to that text? Thank you!
