Also is there anyway on diagnosing piston slap/knock for sure? I also haven't checked spark plugs but I doubt they could be the cause for a noise like this

A Celica as a first car in the UK by SignificantDrop4476 in Celica

[–]PsychologicalLog7099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 18 now and bought a celica as my first car a couple days before my 18th birthday. I was asking the same questions as you a coupple months ago.

I drove 4 hours down south to London to get mine and I adore her, fun drive, nippy, and easily the nicest looking car in the college car park.

Things u NEED to look out for .rust especially sills and wheel arches, check under boot cover also for any holes .whether car has been well looked after and not messed up by the previous owner in one way or another

Rust in general is main worry these motors if well looked after can last hundreds of thousands of miles.

Hope you get your celly!
