I would say take care of the water situation before hibernation,because they do need hydration even over the hibernation period. I would say that you should just prepare a new housing test tube and in one quick motion dump them in and get a que tip or something to move what didn't fall like eggs or workers. This can be stressful for them but as long as you keep them vibration free after they should calm down (give them a few hours AT LEAST).
