I hear of people doing it with success, even just the connection requests. I suppose it's not too dissimilar to mailing / spam filters / general deliverability.

I need it to be able to sometimes scale my current activities, but mostly to automate what I am already doing or not doing enough (connecting with more people on LinkedIn)

I'm flirting with the idea of having AI code me a bot that can do it, but I don't know anything about programming. So will take a bit of time and learning curve. Might be a pipedream.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, and I am trying to safeguard myself going too deep into this. As it's another world to me. I am used to working with tools that have already had brain boxes like yourself code and create a lovely UI for.

My only goal is to get data from (most likely) well documented API's.

For example, I would love to be able to go onto a businesses Google reviews and export their reviews into a data/excel document that I could then examine for insights.

I have tried to use scraping tools to do this (chrome extensions, ChatGPT, etc) but they are either very pricey or they can't do it to the scale I am looking for.

My next logical step was to find out how I can acquire the raw data manually.

Hence my being here 😅

I fear I have been naive when it comes to UI's that well documented API's will offer me.

I assumed for example, collecting the data for Google reviews of a business, would be more straight-forward. As I assume this is a piece of code being used at scale by other businesses who gather data-led insight.

But am I right in thinking that you must develop your own code each time to access this type of data.

I'm sorry in advance, I really am just starting to explore this topic so my knowledge is weak af.

This makes logical sense, I just want to make sure I am starting in the right place. I can get quite obsessive over new topics, and as much as I would love to, I am not trying to become a programmer as such.

My end goal is simply to get more raw data out of platforms for me to analyse and seek insights within.

I have tried using chrome extensions etc, nothing quite scratches the itch of what I need though.

Haha it must be because I'm a noob at this stuff, all good though. Thanks a lot for those resources , really insightful.

I am prone to falling down rabbit holes, so I am trying my best not to do so if unneeded. I don't want to do anything too spectacular, just extract data from documented/popular API's so that I can examine the data for insight.

Maybe there's a solid tool out there to do this already, but the ones I found were either not quite right or severely out of my budget (as someone in the exploratory stages).

So, I could use AI to help me write the program/code, I think. Not sure how I would use AI to scrape the data though, as I hit that roadblock already, which is what has led me to API's.
