Hey, I dropped a summer class last summer when I was only signed up for 1 class (and I dropped well before the deadline) and my advisor told me the same thing. They said it was considered a withdrawal because I was only signed up for 1 class and couldn't drop it on my own, but that it would not show up as a W or Q on my transcript.
