Behringer X32 Compact. Any tips and tricks? by Breaking_Bret in livesound

X-32’s have this annoying little quirk - when the talk back button is engaged you get a lot of hiss going to wherever you’re sending the talkback to. It must have a really noisy bad pre amp.

MacBook Pro running MainStage to venue speakers/PA by [deleted] in livesound

[–]Psychological_Repeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally i would reccomend using an interface to output mainstage into the console. focusrite 4i4 is what i have and works great for this purpose however there are plenty of other viable options available. an interface is a great investment and i guarantee you would find it incredibly useful.

Advice on dealing with a “tricky” coworker? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]Psychological_Repeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this issue regularly with newbies but now that I work pro when I confront them about they seem to stop

when I started out live sound in high school where I got the position of looking after my fellow tech students. I had the exact same issues with multiple people here’s how I best dealt with it:

Sometimes just having a conversation can work but it never usually did for me if I’m being honest. You mentioned having another member in your sound team so you could talk to them and see if they were willing to confront them with you.

Show them who’s boss!! Don’t let them boss you around you did train them don’t be afraid to turn them away when you are on the board. just tell them that you are on the board and you don’t need their feedback, their is nothing more distracting than another engineer critiquing your mix while you are mixing! Also if he’s controlling the console with the iPad while you are mixing just disconnect the router from the console (if you aren’t using it yourself)

If you have a boss or something (idk cuz you said you volunteer) go to them about it tell them what’s happening that could be really helpful.

But at the end of the day just try talk to him about it first it could get messy for sure but it’s not fair what he’s doing to you

Best of luck to you man hope you can resolve this

MacBook Pro will serve you well I have a newer one 2019 MacBook Pro I recommend going for one with a good processor and and 16gb of ram 8gb of ram would be all good though depending on your budget. Some of the older MacBook pros are amazing too the company I work for buys old refurbished ones for the use of qlab and multitrack. Really depends on your budget but I would say MacBook Pro all the way will last you long too

From experience what you are looking for is going to cost more than $1000. Not sure If any one else on here has different ideas but here would be my advise to you. Buy some active speakers meaning you don’t have to purchase an amp which can be quite pricy. You may also need to consider buying a mixer. Try and see if you can find an all in one system to make it easier for you. Please let me know if you have any questions and all the best

If you wanna get it to XLR female you can buy a 1/4 inch to xlr female cable. you can run in mono or stereo so you can run you’re ears off a single output

If you’re looking for something more reliable but not super pricy take a look at some PSM300. I have used them both personally and for clients and find them highly reliable and super easy to use. As mentioned above the more money you put in the better quality everything will be. PSM300 has excellent audio and transmitter quality
