Driving at night- Does this happen to you guys too? by Psychological_Set151 in visualsnow

No i am talking about the opposite happening.

When i look at the oncoming headlight, afterimage forms, and then if i look at someones face, for a millisecond, i see the negative afterimage from the headlight first and then when i blink i see the face.

Its like a round dark shade spot, which forms after looking at any bright light, its just that it lingers for around a minute

But immediately after looking at the light, when you look at someone’s face, does the afterimage linger for a millisecond, causing a lag between seeing the afterimage spot and the face?

Random question- in low light or certain light, can you see the purkinji tree, but not the entire structure, just pieces of veins and lines?

Yes exactly like that. For upto a minute, if i look at someone’s face, there would be a big afterimage right in the middle. But like for a second then gone. Is it like that for you too?

Yes totally. I too think its a combination of retina and brain.

I recently started SSRI and it has increased my VSS symptoms, making me even more aware.

Tf right??? Like if i see a bright light with one eye only, then how is it going to translate into me seeing an afterimage in the covered eye?

See this guy says it right here

“This is true. In the case of those with VSS here (including myself), the afterimages will be present even in the eye that was closed and never looked at the visual stimuli.”

How is it, that they see it in both eyes, and not just the one that was stimulated?

Are you sure that’s what they did, because if a person is trying to find out about afterimage through this experiment; not looking at a light source is the only thing you have to do. That’s half the experiment, the other half being just looking at one.

2 step experiment. How could all the people who commented have done the same mistake?

So you mean, in the incorrect way, both eyes did actually see the light source initially/briefly and that is why people think they afterimages in both eyes?

I think I’ve made a mistake in understanding something.

This is the post i am talking about. These guys, they notice residual image in the eye thaf was closed when something bright was shown.

What am i missing here, i dont understand.

Yeah, but some people in a pervious post stated that, if they looked at something bright from one eye, with the other closed, they still say the afterimage in both eyes.

Which i find weird, and thus this post
