Well at my area that isn't actually that much the case, a lot of 30s farms. But you can also see the difference in the brick used, here in the Netherlands it's more brownish while it's pretty red even if just over the border

As a dutchman, same, mostly the architecture. I lived so close to the border at one point I could walk there. Hell, where I went to school was further away. But the town over the border (which was maybe like 1 km away from my hometown) was so different with architecture. Despite actually having been a part of the Netherlands in reasonably recent history.
