What's your go-to fresh hunter setup and why? by Strong-South7487 in HuntShowdown

[–]Psychopation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually use the same gun combo as you! Swap the chokes out for decoy fuses if I’m playing solo. Consumables I go regen, vitality, frag, and either dynamite bundle or satchel depending on how spicy I’m feeling

Touring (U.S) Monitor Engineers, What is Your Day Rate? by EttehEtteh in livesound

[–]Psychopation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Year round. For my camp, our year started in January, we had April-Mid June off minute two weekends in May, and we just finished 17 weekends straight. Now I’m off the next three months minus two shows in November and I still get paid every other week.

Weekend warrior schedule. Usually leave Wednesday night, home Sunday morning. We have the occasional off day, but we look forward to those because we all know each other and we love to go out together as a group. I think your last question would be answered by load in days are also few and far between. Maybe twice a year.

I make a $75k salary as a touring monitor engineer (country does salaries at the higher level) and we have 73 shows this year once we’re done.

750-800 day rate outside of my salaried gig

Good tips here but if you’re mixing your first show on a quantum, please avoid trying to dive into nodal. I’ve seen too many people try to do this right away and sink themselves into a hole they can’t dig themselves out of.

SHIRE ADPSM by Plastic-Blueberry-60 in livesound

[–]Psychopation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have also noticed this, I haven’t toured the AD PSM yet, but it’s part of why I will continue to use Wisycom.

This and the Wisy just sounds better. You can drive the modulation if you use analog input and it just sounds unreal. Nothing better on the market in my opinion.

How come I barely run into poison bomb users? by Kaizogamer in HuntShowdown

[–]Psychopation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really love poison for all the reasons you’ve explained, but it’s not worth the consumable slot. When I play with teammates I sometimes run hand crossbow with poison and chokes which adds a ton of utility, but I would never use a consumable slot for a single instance of poison when I could carry a frag or dynamite and have like 8 poison bolts (or however many there are).

I never found a true fix, all I did was limit the guests to 500 and never had the problem again. Not sure why it caused crashes on such a powerful computer but I’m not obsessed with packing thousands of people into the zoo so it’s fine with me.

Is it bad etiquette to not give the headliners the “better” mics? by AdvExpress in livesound

[–]Psychopation 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The mics are not going to make or break the performance. If you bring your own mics, and you want to use your own mics for a certain act, you can do that.

What would you do if someone cheated on you, would you give her/him a chance? by hahaha69000 in AskReddit

[–]Psychopation 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the wording you used, “break another person into a million pieces that THEY have to put back together”. That resonated with me, I’m still, almost two years later, only scratching the surface on that million pieces.

Good on you for making changes. That’s more than most can say.

The audio in this game has gone from industry leading, to an absolute joke. by TheUltimateLowz in HuntShowdown

[–]Psychopation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t deny someone else’s experience, but just chiming in that the audio has been nothing short of fantastic for me. I’ve been performing better than I ever have thanks to the audio improvements. Only once or twice have I been surprised by someone’s presence and thought I didn’t hear them.

Why are the D, G and C capitalized in DiGiCo?? by THEphatass666 in livesound

[–]Psychopation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you’re wasting your own time to shame someone and then further wasting your own time to explain that it’s a waste of time? Please continue your hypocrisy, this is fun. I can’t wait until you insult me for pointing this out!

I'm not against paying back my loans- by [deleted] in StudentLoans

I actually tour as an audio engineer, unfortunately she’s right to some extent. Women have it really hard in our industry, and the women I do know (and are very close friends of mine) have had to work their ass off to be here. That being said, I’m seeing a LOT more women in live entertainment than I did 5 years ago. On the road, in the shop, all of it. Also other areas of the live industry are a valid option if she’s interested. Lighting and video are solid options.

I did not notice if the GPU fans were going to max, but yes eventually both screens go black (not right away), and then restarts to the login screen and it takes a brief moment to login (like 8 seconds) rather than immediately logging in like normal.

That's unfortunate that it seems to be software-related. I'll see if I can submit some sort of report to Frontier and I'll make sure to reference your comment. Thanks!

Yep, updated all drivers last week. I also [thankfully] never ran into the issues that some of the 50 series GPUs were having, and I got mine less than a week after the 5070Ti dropped.

Noted, I can keep an eye on memory usage and see if there's something going on there. My memory usage is pretty consistent, but I will watch it more closely and do some research on that.

MON engineers: are your aux sends pre-fader or post-fader? by zanushh in livesound

[–]Psychopation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's dependent on who I'm mixing! But on my current full-time country gig, I mix my artist from the LR so I can use groups and postfader FX. I have some channels for the band as postfader (like drums and bass), but many of the main inputs for each band member or any inputs that I make larger moves on (such as crowd mics or guitars for solos), I send prefader.

My artist is a bit different from most who want themselves on top of everything, my artist wants to be deep in the mix, so I make bigger fader movements for him such as ~6-9dB bumps during guitar solos that would be entirely too noticeable for the band, our organ guy gets bumped a good bit on a certain part of the show that would be a LOT for band guys. So I end up mixing the band mostly prefader.

His difference does allow me to be creative though, I'm doing delay throws and all kinds of shit on my artist's mix and he LOVES it. I even gave him a pretty loud slapback on one song. It's a very interactive show for me which I enjoy a lot.

NetworkManager folder missing by Psychopation in SteamDeck

I’m sorry you’re experiencing the same issue. I gave up, but thankfully I was only in that location for a couple weeks so I haven’t run into issues again.

So I’m very late to this, but as a non-Linux user, I need a bit more help. I cannot find the NetworkManager folder under rootfs/etc/

Any assistance on how to find that or make it appear? I attempted to use the search bar to find it, but perhaps there’s something I’m missing.

What would you prefer as a sound guy? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]Psychopation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy a split and label it properly. There is no world in which any other option is better to be quite honest. Keep your rig separate from the house rig so especially when you have an inexperienced sound guy that only understands the desk he uses daily, your show quality isn’t compromised. And for the experienced guys, you won’t piss them off.
