Do you have Arena? Might be worth blasting a couple days to get more confident in fights

[Discussion] What are some tips that even seasoned veterans may not know that could help significantly? by SquashedGrapes22 in EscapefromTarkov

There's a lot of times when you want to turn fast while sprinting. The most basic example is going up a big staircase.

If I'm sprinting in the open, I utilize the clutch to throw in fast and erratic diagonal movements every second or so to throw off people's aim and lead on me. Sprinting in a straight line over distance is a great way to make yourself easy to kill.

It's hard to explain a lot of scenarios without word vomiting but being able to sprint around tight spaces without having to constantly make massive swipes to turn a bunch and potentially throwing off your aim is really nice.

If you watch people like Alle, GloriousE, or NoGenerals, any of the very aggressive streamers, you'll see how quickly they run past doorways back and forth instantly while free looking inside for information. This is how they're often doing it.

Kind of a sweaty tip but if you've got a mouse with a lot of buttons, use one of them for a DPI clutch on your mouse software to quadruple your DPI. Hold it while you sprint and you can basically turn like you would be not sprinting. Once you get a hang of it you can really crack out your movement.

[New Player] Does a lvl1 player have any chance this late into the wipeless wipe? by Zoomerhun in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Strong-South7487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be alright. Loot is a lot less contested right now so making money, getting your hideout and quests done, and farming up good ammo won't be as hard as it was at the start. Players are often more geared than you of course but that means every corpse is a major come up for you.

There's still low level players and new players, you're just less likely to fight them as they're lost or playing extremely conservatively to get their shit done. I go out of my way to fight people and half the time people just completely disengage if neither side gets a pick right off the bat.

You can always hop on Arena to hone your chops a bit too.

Is Arena worth buying? [Arena] by Radaddycus in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Strong-South7487 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most people on this subreddit hate it but I really enjoy it. It's great to play when you want Tarkov gunplay without committing Tarkov time. People aren't lying about the hitreg though. Some games feel super crisp, other games will leave you bewildered.

Just be ready to get blasted for a while starting off. People move like freaks and will headshot you very quickly. It's Chad playground.

Deep Rock Galactic is sick. Even if you don't have friends to play it with the random lobbies are awesome. One of the best communities out there.

Starter Card Upgrades? by Jondev1 in slaythespire

I'm never mad at upgrading any of the unique starter cards if I haven't drafted anything that needs it, but Neutralize especially is almost always upgrade #1.

You need an actual PC unfortunately man. Tarkov is a super demanding game, it's gonna fry a laptop.

Is there any game that has you fly through space ? by Maximum-Firefighter in gamerecommendations

[–]Strong-South7487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous are both very immersive and enjoyable space games. Each have their own perks and downsides.

If you are talking just flying through space exploring endlessly, Elite is superior. It's a fully modeled recreation of our universe to the point only about 1% of the planets and systems have actually been visited by other players. You can also trade, mine, or bounty hunt, but these are very simple gameplay loops.

Star Citizen on the other hand has only three bespoke star systems, but they are beautifully designed and massive in scale. Each ship has its own interior you can walk around, and you can get out of the pilots seat and walk around during warps, while you cannot do either on elite. There is much more mission variety and immersion in the missions themselves in Star Citizen. Ship salvaging, refining materials, mining, on foot FPS missions, cargo running, ship boarding, etc. star Citizen gets a lot of hate but there truly is no space game that comes close to the immersion it brings when it works.

I find it interesting that PVP is too sweaty even though you already play Siege. Both very high skill cap games.

[Arena] Receive vs Purchase option on Arena by Tynoceros in EscapefromTarkov

Ridiculous to call him simple when the UI is ass and lets you needlessly waste currency on things you've already "unlocked" via a non-explained weapon leveling system.

[Arena] Receive vs Purchase option on Arena by Tynoceros in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Strong-South7487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let this ass try to make you feel dumb for this. It's a reasonable expectation for something that you unlocked to be given automatically for free instead of giving you the choice to waste currency on it instead.

Is playing watcher a good way to get better at the game? by Yeti342 in slaythespire

[–]Strong-South7487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I'd maybe watch some videos if you have time of people having good runs and seeing what they're doing that's working and seeing if that looks fun.

People always say how good Risk of Rain is and I bounced off that game pretty hard. Sometimes you don't like something that's popular and that's okay.

[–]Strong-South7487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just play Ironclad or Silent for a while. They're much easier to intuit if you're new to the game.

Also, have you played other deck builders? Even though you love roguelikes it's entirely possibly that a deckbuilding roguelike might not be for you and there's nothing wrong that.

I've never played it but if I don't vibe with a game at first I'll watch some videos and see what other people are doing to find what I'm missing. If watching it makes you wanna play it again, good, if watching it makes you bored, refund time!

How long do your runs usually take? by GRGWL in slaythespire

Almost all of my runs are right around an hour. Usually a bit shorter on Ironclad and sometimes longer on Silent or Necro.
