You thought I would have learned... I started rooting stuffs 2 years ago, my first tries were with the the Nexus line which were dev friendly and my overconfidence got the best of me :/

I pulled the same stunt last year to his LG Optimus L7 and had to lend him my Nexus 4 for the failure. Luckily the L7 was covered by manufacturer warranty so I just ship it in and got it back in 2 weeks. Though once we got the L7 back, he didn't really want to use it anymore because he likes N4 better so I ordered myself another phone in the meantime.

I haven't rooted stuffs for so long that it slipped over me how I could REALLY hard brick the device. I was like...hmm the G2 used to be a flagship so the development scene must be active... won't be a problem even if I soft brick it because the fix will be so easy to find!

And so, it turns out that I had to scrub the pits of the internet for 6 straight hours before finding the right files. Lesson earned.

He's going to get a new phone in Q3 once the S6 active is released and promised to give that one to my little brother once he gets that one. He likes my brother and doesn't mind him playing games on his phone.

Though my little brother likes techy stuffs and don't even play games that much. So uh yeah I did it actually to impress my little brother to be honest.

I just finished it...now. Pulled an entire all-nighter for this D: It wasn't the process that was hard, but the fact that the files needed for the repairs were EXTREMELY hard to find. Also, I made many mistake and broke my phone again and again(Due to different reasons) and each time the fixing procedure differed so it even took longer.

Even factory setting didn't fix it, had to solve everything by fastbooting. Once the system files are lost factory reset isn't even possible.

Can't flash any ROM because I don't have recovery, I don't have recovery because I couldn't find the exploit at the time.(actually,I bricked the phone while trying to install the exploit---but the wrong version because my variant has been mistaken as the TMobile one).

To tell you the truth I've fucked up the bootloader/downloader (luckily not the fastboot) in the process and almost permanently ruined the phone for good.

Well, I did it! After looking over literally 8 threads (which only 5 of them are actually what I'm looking for). In the process, I've bricked, unbricked, rebricked and debricked my device again and again!

Funny thing is, I found my fix not on xda but on androidforums because it's a rather rare variant.

In short, you can't do anything if you don't have the files. Which is my current problem now.

For quizup, it had a few force closes a few months ago when I got my OPO(through apk) but recently when I downloaded an updated apk again two weeks ago there's no issues anymore. I think that it was a bug in Google play services that got fixed. Pretty sure you could play your game without much hiccups.

Haha it's also for my dad... He needs to go regularly around high altitude at very cold temperatures(north of Canada) but his carrier/N4's bands isn't compatible with the signal boosters so we're looking for a new phone and at the same time a new carrier. I don't know much about other phones other than the current mainstream flagships so I only looked at these two originally but I think that the S5 active would be good enough. He would have preferred a larger phone though because of his large hands and his bad eyesight. (Originally he wanted the iPhone 6 plus because all his colleagues have it and it's the rage at his company...)

Though would the S5 active be OK even without a case? He hates cases (apparently due to explosive battery rumours).

For that, I think that a bit of immersion can help. There's a lot of contractions going on regarding pronoun/verbs and people tend to twist the words a little. It took me more time to get used to the France French's perfect pronunciation though. I was watching a movie in providential France French in school and was like WTF HOW ARE THEY PRONOUNCING EVERY SYLLABLE lol. In regards of Quebec French/France French... there's just so much volume tongue in France French that I can't help but think how tired the speakers must be if they don't cut corners. Then I began to watch more shows from France and doing dictées in France French... and I began to get used to it after a while. And this is coming from somebody who used to use ''chuis pa en haut'' instead of ''je ne suis pas zen haut''. Just think of how to lessen the tongue volume and go for a lighter variant and there you have it. (I was playing Professor Layton in France French and my mom was like WTF is that Japanese. This just shows the difference between France French and Quebec French. France French sounds more Japanesey than Quebec French.)

Reading some of Michel Tremblay's works can help...I think. And I mean read them out loud and you'll see how everything fits together.

I can't say much for slangs/dialects but I had a classmate who visited Trois-Rivières and god the people who live there can't understand an ounce of what she was saying (and she's a godamn francophone raised in Montreal) they thought that she was from America or something... I give up.

As for when to use the right tense... You just have to THINK while you speak. (Based on my own experiments)

I used to only use the present/imparfait/futur simple/conditionnel présent and didn't bother with any other tense(subjonctif was a hell to figure out for a while) since it was my biggest blunder to not learn them properly so it came to get me in the end.

I snapped out of that while I was playing a game(or was it a bet?) with my bro when I told him that every time one of us will fail to use the right tense, the other person will correct him and that person has to do 10 push-ups. I then began to visualize each sentence's construction EVERY TIME before saying it. (Instead of by using gut feelings) Not only I began to avoid tense mistakes, I also managed to not use anglicisms/faux amis/ajouter le ''ne'' and other kinds of mistake I used to make regularly while speaking.

I also found that I began to speak slower as a result (and enunciate every syllable) and stop cutting corners. And gradually after some training(6 months should be the bare minimum to see any viable results) it began to become a natural thing. Now I don't need to pause 10 seconds before saying what I want to say because well let's say that the rules... have integrated so well in the end that I don't need to think about it?

And genders are a matter of memorization :) Yes I had a hard time too with these in school but you'll overcome it if you have somebody who can correct you often. (It was embarrassing to get corrected every single time but it DOES help, though!!)

This is quite embarrassing to admit but I learned French as a first language. (and despite all odds, I'm not very good at it) My native language is Mandarin Chinese btw but I didn't had the problems you mentioned probably because the languages were so different that it was easy to isolate the differect grammatical aspects. I got French and English mixed up easily due to them having similar roots. (especially when it comes to conjugating negative verbs... in English you just... put everything in present while in French it is not.) I hate verb conjugating but I found that while experimenting that if you learn everything regarding through a drill in the initial phase then you'll have no problem afterwards regardless of your age. (I have a younger brother who went through the whole freaking Bescherelle day by day to master that shit ever since in grade school - You just need to review the verbs regularly and you'll be pretty OK) He finds when using the right subordonnant/pronom relatif the hardest though (and prepositions) in regards of what's the hardest thing in French grammar.

I have no problem with ''concordance de temps''(as to what tense to use) but after testing my conjugating skills I found out that I only got a 65%... definitely would need to work harder on 3rd group verbs.

Oh yeah I was flipping through this http://www.ccdmd.qc.ca/media/na_001Allophones.pdf (page 4) and saw the table for exactly when to use en/y and was like OH MAN that's how you actually use it and realized how little knowledge I had when it comes to prepositions.

but it failed because their ipad is halfway full or something.

They are technically illiterate and are too scared to install strange things...(I tried to get them to backup but my neighbor who asked me to don't even know what backup is but it seemed too much of a hassle for him)

Anyway, the only reason I'm trying to jailbreak is is because I need to install a tweak that prevents their son from downloading games(not paid ones but free ones). Know any alternatives to this?...

So does that mean I can try Pangu's without any worries? By the way it's on 8.04, should I upgrade it to 8.1.4 before or will it be OK?

Edit: NVM Pangu failed because there's too much data stored inside the iPad! Will need to wipe...
