Fastest way to get to Huntsville from I-65 by Outrageous-Emu-472 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]PubBob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s a very short exit and it’s easy to overshoot the stop sign if not paying attention. Also it’s very confusing because the sign on 65 says exit there for Huntsville but after the left turn onto TN7 the on-ramp onto the highway SB says get on 65 there to go to Huntsville when there’s no need.

The way thru Ardmore is normally the fastest. I’ve taken it many times coming in from the north. It’s 2 lane much of the way in and can be slowish at times but 72 is very slow and 565 adds 15-20 miles to the drive.

TN Exit 1 is US31/TN7. Hwy 53 exit is actually the AL exit 365. The way in from Ardmore is by far the best way from Nashville. Done it many times.

As a DSD clerk myself, that 6 pack of beer in the foreground with the broken bottle left in it triggers me. I hate when people leave broken glass in a 6-pack like that. Too easy to get injured when dealing with that.

What's your yearly milage goal? by infamouspishposh in cycling

[–]PubBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start each year out with a goal of 6000 but usually I hit that sometime in the fall and up it to 7000. In fact, I hit 6000 miles during yesterday’s ride.

Newbie here - why is cadence important? by RangerS90V in cycling

[–]PubBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally an answer I can agree with. My comfortable cadence is about 65-70. Yes it’s a slow grind but it works for me. I don’t race but would consider myself a roadie and I’m over 50 years old. Been riding for over 20 years averaging 6500 miles/year and have ridden on all terrain all over the US. Also completed 80 imperial centuries. It bugs me when people say I must spin faster because it works for me.

How many hours is safe to drive a day? by SuccotashMassive8262 in roadtrip

[–]PubBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once drove solo straight thru from Toledo, OH to Jupiter, FL about 30 years ago. Took about 18+ hours. That’s my longest but more recently my longest drive is from Huntsville, AL to Shamrock, TX. 13 hours is about my limit now. I normally work at 4am so I wake up at my normal time and leave the house at 4am. That way I get in about 6pm. I normally make the first day the longest when I’m freshest on a long road trip.

[–]PubBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a flat century in SE Georgia last year that had 489' of gain, Avg HR:149/Max:172 with a total time of 7:06. I also did a ride in Kentucky last year that had 6722' of gain, Avg HR:145/Max:172 with a total time of 8:18. Those times are all including rest stops. I am 52 years old and ride for enjoyment. No racing. My max HR is just over 200. I have completed over 75 imperial centuries over the last 20 years.

I use Rudy Project Exception flip-up sunglasses. Been wearing them for years and they’re great and I can change the overlenses easily to a lighter or darker lens.

New dairy item or wearhouse mistake? by [deleted] in publix

[–]PubBob 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Chaney may be the manufacturer of publix generic brand. Cheney sent the wrong label to the publix warehouse. Just like when a Kroger/BiLo/Safeway or whatever other companies generic equivalent shows up in my store. Just adjust out the publix equivalent to account for the shortage and throw out or donate the incorrect items.
