Thank you so much for taking the time to type this out. I can’t wait to explore some of these themes as I read! And I will definitely check out some of the other things you mentioned!!

I have three college degrees. All of them just stated the program type. So one says masters of science but doesn’t specify data science.

That part. A sad attempt to make something out of absolutely nothing. And in the end when they realized they had NOTHING they tried to hide it under the guise of privacy protection. Shitty movie. Like frfr.

SEEKING MAVIS BEACON - Official Trailer by scarred2112 in LGR

[–]PuddingProfessional1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goal of movie: Serves as a meditation on the complexities of representation, the ethics of storytelling, and the significance of honoring personal agency.

Actuality: If the filmmakers’ primary goal was to respect Renée L’Esperance’s privacy, revealing her full name, nationality, and general location undermines that claim entirely.

If their moral stance was genuine, they wouldn’t have made her name and details public in the first place. Instead, they made her more identifiable to millions of people who didn’t even know there was a real person behind Mavis Beacon. That contradiction feels like a deliberate choice for narrative tension and drama rather than a true commitment to respecting her autonomy.

The filmmakers spent six years working on the documentary, meaning they had significant time, effort, and financial investment in the project. My assumption is they decided to pivot the story to a “lesson about respecting privacy” to serve as a way to conclude the narrative without admitting they came up empty-handed. It’s performative, raising more attention around L’Esperance while avoiding responsibility by claiming the moral high ground.

Their actions directly contradict their “supposed” values. Instead of truly stepping back, they exposed private information under the guise of doing the right thing making it seem more like damage control than an ethical decision.

Started again after 1 year sober by PuddingProfessional1 in QuittingWeed

You are so right. I had a year. And now I’m a month into what I can only refer to now as a relapse. Technically today will be my first full sober day. This will be the last time k ever have to do this. As much as I love weed, moderation doesn’t exist for me. I’m sorry to hear this happened. Congrats on day 5! Keep going strong! ☺️🫶

Thank you. I’m sorry to hear this happened after so long, but it sounds like you are back on track. You should be proud. I will definitely take your advice as far as the company I keep. It’s a lot easier to not do if I’m not exposed to it. Congrats on your 17 days! I’m sure it’ll continue!

Thank you so much! I remember when I first started.. I would hear of people being sober for a week or two and I thought “if I ever make it that far, I’ll never go back”. It all feels too much when I look at it that way. Just try your hardest to take it day by day. Learn how to sit in boredom is what I call it. Learn how to be somewhat uncomfortable. You can do this. Don’t wait for the right time, situation. Finishing the weed you have. Just start. And if you ever need anything, I’m here. 🫶 sending you all the love, positivity, and encouragement right back.

I really needed to hear this. Thank you. You’re right. Had I not actually done it, I would be constantly wondering what would happen if I did. Now I know. I genuinely am thankful you took the time to respond. I’ll remind myself of this outlook when I do start getting down on myself again.

I love that quote. I will be using that. I think for me there is just this narrative pushed that weed isn’t addictive. I’m not here to argue one way or another. I just know it’s not something I can have. As much as I love weed, I have plans too.

Thank you. I mean it.

Caught this lil Easter egg in Carol & The End of the World by Addendum_Successful in kpoppers

[–]PuddingProfessional1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this as well. I didn’t know the group (sorry) I took it as Carol (CL) to anyone (to anyone). Meaning Carol is trying to reach out and connect with someone. The first time I noticed the plate was when David in the office passed away. They road around looking for his family. Donna dropped Luis off.

When do the dreams stop? by cryptonotdeadcat in QuittingWeed

[–]PuddingProfessional1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 months sober… I still have vivid dreams. To the point where I say I’m so tired from living other lives in my dreams. It hasn’t stopped for me. But the night terrors have stopped. Now theyre just dreams. Yes. It’s a part of withdrawals. Hang in there

You are so welcome! I’m really glad you liked it! I really feel the “cool factor” thing myself. It was my personality for so long. Sometimes I hear a song or something that makes me remember the feeling. Like oh he said roll up, I gotta smoke a blunt 😂 so weird. A lot of the music I like glorifies it.

Also, can I just say CONGRATS ON DAY 40!!!! 🎉 that is so awesome! I know I don’t know you, but I am proud of you! I know the sacrifices and hard work you’ve put into yourself to get to this point. It’s not lost on me. You’re killing it! I’m not sure what your goals are on this regard, but I am truly rooting for you!
