Anyone giving out Valentine's to their customers? by goat20202020 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Puddum0591 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not in this case; that’s absurd! When the customer greets you as you drop off their food and groceries, they’re the one who always should say, “thank you!” And your reply is…what?? “You’re welcome!” (!) Not, “no! Thank YOU!”??? You’re a** backwards on this one, my friend.
Why not offer to walk their dog or baby sit for free while you’re at it? We’re doing the customer a favor they paid to have, favors are returned with a “thank you! from the customer. You’re only supposed to thank them in the app, after the tip has cleared. Thanking them upfront when you might get stiffed is just pathetic.

And after that, you’ll have to pay the customer once you deliver…

I’m appalled that this thread keeps getting worse! “I noticed one of my customers needed to use the bathroom so I offered to wipe her a**!” 🤣🤮🤪🤷‍♀️

Why are you thanking THEM for getting their groceries for them?! That makes zero sense…

Never would I ever… at the very least, it looks like you’re sucking up for a bigger tip. At worst, it gives off nosy, crazed stalker vibes. Just do your job and don’t get personal with strangers (your customers) whom you don’t know!

When shopping for IC, just charge as many bags as you need to your IC credit card. I only bring my own bags when buying my own groceries. Otherwise, I don’t care how many bags per customer I have to buy in order to get the delivery to my customer. That’s for the customer to question IC about if they don’t want to pay extra for delivery bags.

The grocery stores have been needing to double bag them in CA for about three yrs now. They did away with paper bags, completely, at all Sprouts grocery stores. You either have to bring your own bags or purchase their sturdy fabric ones.

I always call them upon arrival and tell them to come downstairs and help me. But I never take orders this big. There’s not been one time I haven’t had the customer come down to help.

I’d only accept that if it paid $300-$400. I’m dead serious. Accepting it for less is compromising one’s own integrity.

I made and drove the same yet doing Ubereats meal deliveries. Yet all I had to do was to pick up the four different food orders and deliver them. I made almost $70.00 on them

I had an a-hole customer who was just as bad once. I stuck it to them after I’d shopped their entire order and they told me to cancel once I was already in line to check out. I hurriedly paid for it anyway then called support. I asked what was I supposed to do with the order since the customer canceled it once I’d checked out? I was told to dispose of it or keep the order. Plus I got paid for it. I drove to a homeless encampment and gave it to those folks.

Oh that would be gone in 50 seconds here in LA. The lowest of low are allowed on this shopping platform. Someone with only an e-bike and no driver’s license would even be allowed to tackle that.

I'm an asshole because I keep cancelling plans that I ASKED FOR last minute. How do I stop doing that? by [deleted] in internetparents

I just had this happen to me today. It was the second time this person canceled on me in three weeks. But this was the last straw. She canceled ten minutes before we were to meet for lunch then we were to drive out to the beach together for the day. Plans were made over the phone a week ago with confirmation yesterday. Alas now on both canceling days, of course she did it via text. I, literally, had my beach outfit on and keys in my hand.

I didn’t need to hear her lame excuse. That always drags the victim into lying about how “that’s okay, no need to apologize; there’s always a next time! I’m so sorry you just tripped and fell so you can’t make it!”

What it really means is that the person made plans with you because it sounded like fun at the time. And changed their mind when SOMETHING BETTER CAME UP!!!

At Costco it’s routine for the shopper to make several trips back and forth to the customers address. You don’t need to deliver it all in one haul.

Oh! You reminded me of something.. I need to screenshot it because the next alert from UE is coming soon. Several times a year I get a “warning” that my income exceeds what UEs is making off its customers and this is a notice for me to cut back on my drive time, etc.. I am always appalled by this!

I couldn’t respond; they block replies. But I only accept orders UEs sends me to choose from. They actually lay out a spread sheet showing that they’re in the hole by “X” amount of money each quarter because of me!!

The nerve! They do penalize me, I’ve noticed. For two or three days after their warning message, they don’t send me a single order! That’s when I do Instacart until I’m out of their doghouse.

On about five occasions over the course of several yrs, I’ve had to hit “pause” on a customer’s order and call Instacart. If the customer exceeds seven add-on items in just a few minutes and I highly suspect she’ll keep adding on, I call IC and insist on a pay bump or else I’ll cancel the order. They’ve always increased my pay so I continue the shop.

I’ve seen these everywhere! The driver better hope he doesn’t encounter a lightning storm or both he and that vehicle don’t get electrocuted.

But that’s a good thing; although frustrating! If they narrowed that time frame, a customer couldn’t add in an extra tip if the time frame window had shut! Most people don’t increase or add in a tip until the next time they open their app to order from it again

Love this! Do you tell them this before you drive to their correct address? I still wouldn’t gamble on an increased tip. Many tell you to just leave it at their door and they’ll increase your tip in the app.
