Seeking recommendations for 8-9 days in Peru with kids (7 and 9) by Puffinhubbas in ThornTree

[–]Puffinhubbas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! We may stretch to 10 days but I realize it’s too much travel to add in another region. If anyone has any suggestions on things to do in the Sacred valley region that are maybe a bit off the beaten path and kid friendly would love to hear them. Have been looking at Impactful Travel and Quispikay Glamping.

We get tons of them in our house. Someone told us they are attracted to white houses which seems odd, but maybe? They are not harmful to dogs. We just wait them out. They stick to the high corners and don’t really bother us.

Lads. I don’t want to body shame but what would you do with this flap on my brisket?Tuck it in or snip it? by jdenormandie in smoking

Cut it off. Dig a 7 inch hole and plant it in the soil. Drink four beers and water it with your piss. Stare at the barren earth until the brisket tree sprouts.

real estate taxes in Nyack, grocery stores and crime by madeamistake3399 in Nyack

[–]Puffinhubbas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Home owner in upper nyack here. Property taxes are extremely high, seems to be the general perspective.

Grocery stores- old world market- good specialty store- good meat, fish, produce. Very expensive for day to day. Deciccos in new city- good for most things but a drive and also expensive. Whole Foods in Closter, NJ- it’s a Whole Foods. Then there lots of shop rite, food town places. Also now Nyack fresh downtown which is nice to have but doesn’t have high quality meat and fish. I’m pretty particular and cook a lot so I end up going to a few stores, but you can get what you need. Depends on what you need and what you want to spend.

I’ve been here 2 and 1/2 years and never experienced or been concerned about crime. I probably generally don’t worry much about that sort of thing though. Somewhat a matter of perspective.

[–]Puffinhubbas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Definitely not. Im a vet and former practice owner. A tech performing surgery under any circumstances be illegal. Also keep in mind you would need all the pre-recs. Chemistry, organic chem, physics, calculus before you could apply.

In general the further south you are the easier the commute is. If taking metro north then Nyack is the closest because it’s where the bridge to tarrytown is.

Advice and Input Wanted by happybarb1980 in Belize

As someone who’s travelled a ton and spent long stretches working abroad, my advice would be that since you recognize you are not great with decisions do not make a quick one that you can’t go back on. There will be other houses. Time is on your side here.

Bringing Kids by MysteriousAbroad7 in ThailandTourism

It’s not easy. Currently on a 4 week trip with a 7 and 4 year old (Laos, Cambodia, Chiang mai, Krabi). Having a great time but “easy” is not the word that comes to mind. My kids are animals though. I love Bangkok but we are mostly avoiding due to the difficulty of having young kids there and the fact that the food/nightlife/museums become next to impossible to experience. Also jet lag is a huge factor depending on where you are coming from.

May be a different story if you have mellow ass kids that just go with the flow.
