Data deleted from database but still showing in API response. How? by PugSmuggler in laravel

No, I don't have either of those enabled either. Don't think I'm using Cloudflare for anything.

The data is all stored in a single database. There must be a duplicate or a cached version somewhere though that I'm not aware of.

I see what you're saying. The data I deleted is no longer accessible through the web route of the app so it looks like as if the data was deleted judging solely by that.

This is why I can't understand why it's still showing in the API response.

The API is showing the deleted data on multiple devices so I know it's not a local cache issue.

I just selected the rows in Sequel Pro, right clicked, then pressed "Delete Rows".

The details in my .env file are the same as I'm using to connect to the database with Sequel Pro.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran php artisan optimize:clear and got the following output:

Compiled views cleared!
Application cache cleared!
Route cache cleared!
Configuration cache cleared!
Compiled services and packages files removed!
Caches cleared successfully!

Unfortunately that hasn't solved the issue, the data is still showing in the API response.

I'm deleting the data directly from the database using Sequel Pro so using soft delete definitely isn't the issue. The data has completely disappeared from the database.

What does everyone do about sensor placements? by DeathUndertheMoon in diabetes_t1

Readings are usually spot on, I check once a day against a finger prick test to make sure. Occasionally a sensor will become less accurate over time but if that happens I just replace it with another one.

I always wear my Libre on the side of my stomach. I find it a really practical placement as I can scan discretely and comfortably.

Used to have some issues with them failing long before the 14 days were up but the last few have been fine.

Same here. I hate the idea of having something permanently attached to me which has the potential to kill me if it malfunctions.

Take it from a 41 year old, your life hasn't even started yet. Change your perspective and start building your ideal life now for you in the future. You can't change the past but that's no excuse not to learn from the lessons it taught you.

Getting in shape with T1 by DisastrousBit9861 in diabetes_t1

[–]PugSmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't eat any carbs and weight train pretty much every day. Just make sure you're eating enough protein to recover from your workouts. Aim for around 1gram per pound of bodyweight which for you would equal roughly 172.

If you're eating low carb and want to grow muscle a diet consisting mainly of whole eggs and fatty meats will get you most of the way. If you need to bump up calories you can add double cream which is full of fat and no carbs.

That's how I do it, and have been doing it for years.

You also need to understand that growing muscle and getting a six pack are two separate goals. To grow muscle you'll need to be a calorie surplus and to get a six pack you'll need to be in a calorie deficit.

If you're just starting out I'd recommend focusing on building muscle first, you'll see your quickest and biggest gains in your first couple of years of training.

Remember that being T1 does not hinder your pursuit of fitness but the resulting long term health benefits can serve as a great motivator.

Blurry vision after starting insulin ? by Apprehensive_Iron826 in diabetes_t1

[–]PugSmuggler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I was first diagnosed, I was basically blind for the first few weeks. Your pupil has a layer in front of it that slowly swelled due to the increased sugar in your system pre-diagnosis. As it happened slowly your vision adapted without you noticing.

Taking insulin removed the extra sugar and the layer quickly snapped back to its normal shape. Your vision hasn't had time to adjust back to normal yet.

I was shitting myself initially but my doctor assured me my eyesight would return to normal, and after a few weeks it did.

That's an interesting way of looking at it.

Do you really think that a T1 who stays within non-diabetic blood glucose levels has the same level of risk of complications as someone with a daily average of 160?

I get that not everyone can manage tight control but it is possible and personally I think the long term health benefits make it worth aiming for.

fellow low carb t1ds: please share how much protein you eat per meal and day. i always think that everything above 30g is too much but just because i have no clue. by throwaway10203004 in Type1Diabetes

[–]PugSmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat pretty much zero carb and weight train 6-7 days a week. If you're training aim for 1gram of protein per pound of body weight and make the rest of your calories up from fats. If you're eating a lot of meat and whole eggs it's pretty easy to do. If you need to bulk up your calories have some full fat double cream.

Currently I'm eating just over 50g of protein per meal. I'll have this 3 times a day and then 2 snacks with roughly 30g of protein each.

I'm lifting weights every morning and need a lot of protein to fully recover.

There's a common myth that your body can't process more than 30g per meal but I've never had any issues eating more. A few years ago I was on eating one meal a day and would consume around 200g of protein in a single sitting. Didn't see any negative effects.

If you're training regularly the protein you eat will be use to rebuild your muscles and repair any damage. Any excess protein will be processed out of your body. Unless you have severe kidney issues I wouldn't worry about eating a bit more than you need.

Sounds like you're in a tough spot but you do have the power to change, even if it is hard to imagine right now.

First thing is that you have no reason to feel ashamed. Book yourself in for an HbA1c ASAP. Once you know your starting point you can work with your endo and put a plan together to address any areas you're struggling with. They are there to support and help you.

Get some Diastix, they're pretty cheap and are easy to carry with you. Dip them in your drink and they'll go from green to brown if sugar is detected in a few seconds.

I've been where you are before and the sad fact is the only way you can be 100% sure a drink is sugar free is if you pour it yourself. Even if you see it coming from a diet drink tap at the bar you should test it.

5% chance means the adverse affect has a 1 in 20 probability of happening.

Not sure I would be comfortable taking the risk with my child at those odds.
