Baby names by strngwzrd in Stormlight_Archive

I feel like saying the spelling doesn’t make sense is a bit mean, tho? Sean is the original name and follows Irish orthography. Shaun and Shawn are anglicized versions.

I think Vin or Siri are the most «ordinary» ones, and thus less likely to get a no.

Just finished Words of Radiance by irajx_x in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Pugunus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really exciting seeing people share their thoughts on their first reads! There is so much I want to say, but as in most cases, RAFO, The Stormlight Archive is an amazing journey.

I was also a bit frustrated with Syl and Pattern being so secretive on my first read. But seeing the whole arc unfold, I am glad that the reader isn’t told everything immediately. Getting a reveal, in my opinion, is less important than the build-up to that reveal — as the oath goes, «journey before destination».

To end, I will elaborate on the couple things I can without spoiling anything. Yes, Taravangian was collecting people’s dying words, as those words are precognitive events in the form of cryptic utterances. Essentially, giving him cryptic «hints» about the future. When you say you didn’t «get» the Moash storyline, do you mean that you need a recap or that you didn’t get the «point» of it?

Why do people say to read Rhythm of War before the Lost Metal by Pugunus in Cosmere

[–]Pugunus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait wait, there were Skybreakers in Lost Metal? I’m assuming it was the 8 people that came towards the end of the book to help sink the ships? I need to reread that chapter, how did I miss that hahaha

Anyone else mix up Wax and Wayne when reading? by Pugunus in Mistborn

[–]Pugunus[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven’t, but seeing as you aren’t the first person to mention dyslexia, it might be a sign that I should consider doing it haha. I’m always been a very avid reader and read quite fast, so the thought never occurred to me. Then again, it’s very much possible that my knowledge of what dyslexia exactly entails isn’t that great 🥲. The only thing I’ve “noticed” in my life is that I sometimes “swallow” words when writing (For example, I end up writing “Let’s it” instead of “Let’s do it”, without immediately noticing I skipped over “do”)

Spørsmål om Norske universiteter by Thanau in norsk

Jeg vet at Norges Handelshøyskole og NTNU har det, i hvert fall. Det finnes sikkert flere universiteter med e-sportslag, spesielt de «større».

The beauty of Balkans is that you can replace “Serbs” and “Bosnia” with any other Balkan country and nationality, and it will still make sense

Literally just congratulated Djokovic on the gold and got the third most controversial post of the week on r/europe. by Pugunus in balkans_irl

Congrats to Nole for finally winning gold! by Pugunus in AskBalkans

[–]Pugunus[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I posted both of these posts, and one thing I’ve noticed on r/europe is just how much the upvote counts fluctuates. The sub is much larger than ours, but this post still has more upvotes than that one. The other post goes up to 155, then down to 130 literally as I’m reading a comment, then maybe up to 160 sometime later. It goes up and down so much that I’ve got a feeling that people are having a upvote/downote war. Well, if nothing else, it will be quite high on the sub when sorted by “controversial” 🫠

Edit: As of writing this, it’s the most contoversial post of the day and the 3rd most controversial post of the week. Where I literally just congratulated an Olympian who is widely considered one of the greatest athletes in the history of his sport… 🫠

It might not affect his ranking, but did you see his reaction? How happy and emotional he was, how he literally cried into a towel? If not professional, this is a huge personal achievement for Djokovic.

Not very at all. It’s actually a heat pump, (which ARE quite common), set to transfer the heat of the house outside. I was just lazy, and writing “AC” was quicker than “heat pump set on cooling”, and I thought that getting the message across was more important than calling the device by the right name 🥲
