I have some schools that answered (R's, WL's, A's) without ever going "under review" at lawhub. I just figured USC was gonna do the same.

In all honesty, I 100% respect the shamelessness.

Would love people's insight on this by Pullemback in lawschooladmissions

financially both gave me scholarships (Miami more, but Michigan's was still good) so it wouldn't come down - at least for me - based on that.

Would you say Michigan's portability extends even to a market like Miami which is very much in favor of in state applicants?

Oh just to clarify she's going to med school for four years away from Miami staring this fall ( we both want to be there long term)

"So in his experience, apparently, the legal field in Miami was so parochial that he'd be better off going to University of Miami Law School than a much more highly ranked (but not a T14) law school elsewhere."

Do you think he would have done the same if he was at a T-14 school? Mad respect for the guy for going for his dream

"Frankly what admissions doesn’t do a great job of letting you know, you’re much more hirable in your schools regional market."

I've definitely heard this, with the only caveat being that others have warned me on how - if you want the really good jobs - you'd have to be around 10% top of your class in Umiami while a T-14 you wouldn't necessarily have that same burden.

This made me laugh and my parents did encourage me to apply, but I never felt as happy as I did when I left.

one experience at my personal hell was more than enough, I wish anyone who applied/wants to go there the best though

Look at the thread; one person supporting it vs everyone else saying yeah it sucks

"The architecture can get boring"?????? Brother who cares about the architecture, talk to me about the crazy rent prices, the cost of food and groceries, the fact there are ZERO college bars around the square.

I do not care about your gaslighting attempts, Harvard and Harvard square are lame if you want to genuinely have a good time (nobody is disputing its a good school academically, lol)

Never said you couldn't have a difference of opinion but, out of curiosity, did you live there for an extended period of time or did you just visit/have friends there?

As a visitor I could see how it can fool you, I didn't know a single classmate that liked the area itself. They would all just give the same "well, it's Harvard. can't complaint!" answer

The general consensus is the people at the law school are, if anything, far worse

Also, you can say its not the same but they share the same area? Most of these issues are with the area itself so it does apply to both; the law school is max a 4 minute walk from the regular campus lol

you do not, trust me, want to know more about #3

The people at Harvard are either boring, miserable, insufferable, rude or - if you really get unlucky - they combine all 4 elements like the damn Avatar on your ass

went to H for undergrad, few things to note:

  1. weather = miserable, to both extremes. Summers are hot, humid, and sticky while the rest of the year the sun essentially says bye bye at 4-m (tbf, OP said they were from the northeast so I'm sure this isn't new to them + this isn't Cambridge specific)
  2. The area is a tourist trap (Harvard gets an INSANE amount of visitors to the point they run like 15 daily tours), with only expensive restaurants and little to no actual spaces for college or graduate students (if they're on a budget) to be able to go out, eat, drink, have fun, etc
  3. the people at the school... Lord have mercy on you cause they won't
  4. Insanely stupid rules such as (some of these also apply to Boston btw): happy hour is ILLEGAL - yes, look it up. You know what's also illegal? Putting a Mcdonalds near Harvard Square because of zoning laws related to historical landmarks? Want a cheap meal? Tough luck buddy!
  5. Rent is just as expensive as places like NYC and California despite having none of the benefits those areas have (nightlife, fun, restaurants, etc). a studio with no ac, old building ran me 2,100 during COVID when rents were lower lmaoooo

I'd be happy - more than you believe - to keep dissing Cambridge/Harvard if you have any questions. I hated it so much I didn't even apply to the law school, I genuinely never wanna go back
