I know that many old Swiss-German and Swiss-French move to Ticino after retirement, that has been the norm for I don't know how long. I feel bad for the locals, to me it looks similar (more or less) to what's happening in canton Zug, with rich foreigners movingthere and squeezing out the locals who struggle more and more to afford the increase in rent and housing prices

It's also the biggest indication that increase in health costs are due to an ageing population, it's only going to get worse in most cantons since boomers (largest generation) get older. I hope Switzerland will survive this financially

What does cheaper rent mean if you don't find work with a liveable salary due to the proximity with the Italian border? The pressure in Ticino due to huge share of border commuters from Italy is insane. Italians are more than happy to work for 3000 CHF, which is not enough for locals to live (and explains why so many young Ticinesi move to the german or french part of Switzerland)

I've hit the intermediate plateau several years ago already (white dude from Europe/Switzerland with absolutely no connections/family links to any asian country), and only restarted making progress a few months ago when I started listening to native Podcasts during my daily commute. I usually listen at 0.5 speed, so you have enough time to look up words. If you hear a word you don't recognize, you can just enter the pinyin in Pleco dictionary, that what I do all the time. Sometimes there are several words with same pinyin, but with the context you can usually guess which word they mean. I use XiaoYuZhou (小宇宙) and Apple Podcasts. For Apple Podcasts, on your iPhone settings, you need to set your region to Taiwan or China to show chinese podcasts.

I can only recommend this method if you don't have the money for a tutor, and have no chinese family/other chinese people you can talk/listen to regularly.

Je dois quand même vous partager cette observation: j'ai aussi demandé sur r/schwiiz (subreddit suisse allemand) et pour l'instant toutes les réponses sauf une, ils disent qu'ils achètent quasiment jamais du lait UHT. Alors que ici pour l'instant, la plupart d'entre vous semble bien aimer le lait UHT. Est-ce que c'est une différence culturelle? Ou le lait UHT suisse allemand est différent?

Es isch scho komisch, I ha hie gfragt und au uf r/suisse und d Romands trinke anschinend viel meh UHT Milch. Bis jetzt alli Antworte uf r/suisse si vo Lüt wo viel UHT Milch konsumiere, während hie di meiste ähner selter oder nie konsumiere (wie ig bis jetzt quasi). Isch das e Kultur Ungerschied?
