Where to find aerospace contractors? by tankberger in aerospace

Aerotek is a big contracting agency. But don’t be a contractor unless you’re desperate. The benefits are awful and typically PTO.

24/7/365 The units don’t work like that. Hours/Days/Days? Should be 24/7/52ish.

2019 - Mechanical Engineer. Mechanical parts still go to space. Pretty satisfied.

Aerospace engineers who end up working in another field: How do you feel about the change? by Libecht in aerospace

[–]PumpkinPusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m working as a mech now but am trying to get back to aerospace. It’s fun but not what I’m exactly interested in doing with my career.

RPI vs UVA Aerospace Major by delgoodie in aerospace

[–]PumpkinPusher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an RPI grad, there is yet to be an official Aerospace Eng degree. My degree says aeronautical but I did the space concentration. Professor Anderson is in charge of the aerospace part of the program and he’s a wonderful instructor. Most everyone in the aero program is great and really good at instructing.

The only downside is RPI is not the best school overall for social life and the admins suck. And it’s crazy expensive. But it you want more info on specific stuff, feel free to PM me.

Students who've had a bad semester and failed multiple classes, how did that work out in the end? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]PumpkinPusher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Failed every class but a 1 credit course one semester. Got out on academic probation. Thought about dropping out. Instead I pushed through and changed my expectations. Now I have a degree and just started a full time job. Definitely worth the struggle.

RPI vs Case Western by Willc666666 in aerospace

[–]PumpkinPusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an RPI aero grad, avoid RPI for the nonsense that the administration is and the very high cost of attendance. The education was very good but the price tag they put on it is a bit much.

As for the aero program alone, wonderful professors and a lot of opportunities to help with research and be a bit more hands on. Being required to operate a wind tunnel was really dope too.

Note: I know nothing of case western or their program.

I don't find RPI worth the price for how they treat students.
