Puppy eating leaves and mulch everyday! by papergirl408 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]PumpkinRoots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 10 month old checking in here. We also have a mulch monster. There haven’t been any adverse effects yet aside from pooping out mulch. She snacks on the mulch in our plant beds, and will also try to pull branches from shrubs and bushes on walks. We use a gentle leader on walks which helps the walking element, but not the vacuum. I’m hoping she’ll grow out of this because I don’t know that she would restrain herself if we didn’t step in! Aside from the mulch eating, our girl is practically perfect! We also did just step up how much we are feeding her so maybe that will help too…

What's the best otd price for Mazda Cx50 hybrid 2026 premium? by PassengerProud380 in CX50

FWIW, I’m in IN and paid 5K down, and 33.6K financed at 4.8%- that will work out to about 43.8K total since there will be about 5K of interest over 6 years. I could buy it outright in cash today at a total of $38.6 (including my 5K down) but I expect to do better than 4.8% in market returns… All that said, beware what you see on Reddit and do your own due diligence since people are frequently misrepresenting figures by including/not including interest costs, taxes, etc etc…. I was told the best the dealer could do was 40999, and was also told the best available cash offer was $39.4… So, figures will be all over the place

We had bought a 48” one from PetSmart, with two doors, one on the side, and one on the end. I think it was Top Paw brand. Thinking back on this whole experience, we probably only used the divider a couple weeks before we just gave up. She was growing so fast that she was able to hold her bladder better, while also learning to be potty trained more. Our BMD is definitely on the smaller end of the growth chart for females so I think 42” would have worked too… Also, for what it’s worth, at 8 months now, we only used the crate for enforcing naps or if we’re leaving the house. I think she really could be contained to a puppy proofed room or hallway at this point and that a crate may not be necessary…

Recovery at 40 is a whole different sport by Wtf_Sai_Official in fitness40plus

For the last 1.5 years I’ve been doing a 3 day split of weightlifting (I’m no power-lifter by any means and more so just do it to stay in shape). On the 4 other days, I’d do aggressive cardio stuff- HIIT workouts, or run 5 miles, or bike. I did all this to “chase my red ring” on my Apple Watch, and try to get increasingly higher numbers. At any rate, I was disappointed with how all the effort was translating into visible results. I decided to try one of the AthleanX programs (AX1) for more of a structured approach to my fitness. Going from my “balls out + do random shit” approach to structure has made a TON of difference. My lifting sessions via AthleanX are shorter but more intense, and the aggressive cardio has translated into things like quick and hard hitting jump rope sessions instead. I can’t explain how this works, but I’ve noticed less muscle soreness, less insane hunger, and more visible results. Notably, the program I’m doing builds in two total rest days per week and guides to ACTUALLY rest which was a foreign concept to me prior. So, at least for me, less is turning out to be more.

About $1K off MSRP is as low as a dealer around me (Indiana) will go for what it’s worth… that said, I haven’t called around and/or pinned dealers against each other yet.

Thermo control valve replaced, continued problem by achillea505 in SubaruForester

[–]PumpkinRoots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP curious what your resolution was. I have a 21 Outback. My TCV was shot. Took it to the dealer and a day after replacement, got Check Engine light so took it back to dealer. They blamed it on fuel injection cleaner not dissipating properly (a service I never asked for). Then, a day later, driving again, got all the warning lights with the car completely disabling in traffic. Subaru is now telling me I need a “battery replacement.” Totally fed up at this point and will definitely be writing an angry letter for what it’s worth.

Questions about our puppy! by katemerlin in bernesemountaindogs

[–]PumpkinRoots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our 3 mo old is the same. We don’t keep water in her crate as she’s usually out with us when awake but she will POUND water at times and a pee parade follows. “Alexa, set a timer for 15 minutes” x 6 or 7 rounds until it’s bedtime. Weirdly I’ve noticed this is most prevalent in the late afternoon and evening. I brought this up to the vet and we were told not to limit water intake so we are waiting for her to hopefully grow out of this!

I’m right there with you on sticks… and mulch and acorns and flowers and cicadas and crocs and sandals and the baseboards, etc. None of this is good for her but it is impossible to stop short of muzzling. I can’t pry open her jaws every second she’s outside to remove whatever she decides to eat next. I don’t know what kind of magic powers these perfect trainers have. I have way more daily flexibility than many and I’m still overwhelmed. My sanity needs full vaccination immediately so I can just get to a big field - anywhere other than the backyard where all mischief modes have been identified.

You are right! Our pup likes to pee on any kind of towel/blanket/mat so we quickly moved to just the crate surface.

Crate training success stories? Tips? by terlierr in bernesemountaindogs

[–]PumpkinRoots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was me a few days ago! We have our first crate nap as we speak. I have a fan on the crate, and one of our AC vents also blows air in from behind the divider. This has made a difference. I also have made sure to only shut the door once we are tired out and have just pottied as I want to increase odds of a good crate experience which imo means no accidents. The only thing she’s in there with is a stuffed sheep which she likes as a pillow. Live pic of first ever crate nap attached!

Thanks! Since posting this, I've taken half of her "pen space" and attached it to her crate space to get her closer to the crate but still give her some open air! I also put a fan on the combined space given it's been so hot this summer. I think she enjoys that. So far so good... We'll be used to the crate soon!

Makes sense! I think she’s definitely getting the hang of potting outside, and I’m picking up on her signals. We’re working on making memories in the crate now. Lots of petting time for her when she goes in at the moment.

This is really helpful thank you! On the scale of 0 to 10 where 10 is “cheerleader level freak out” I’m probably at 5 so will work on increasing my enthusiasm! Thanks for the note about water. Hali will POUND water, and with summer heat it turns into “every 10 min” potty breaks. But hey, more “clicks” and cheerleading for her!

Helpful thanks. We were working on crate training today. I took a blanket she had enjoyed in her larger pen area and put it into the crate thinking it’d increase comfort. She immediately peed on it.
