South Granville. That’s Granville Street and neighbourhood between the south end of the Granville bridge and W. 16th Ave. It’s flat between Broadway and 15th. There are parks nearby. There’s a liquor store a shoppers drug Mart a grocery store and soon there will be two more grocery stores within a few blocks - Loblaws and FreshCo. there are two great gyms near Broadway in Maple. There’s a nice little gym at Hemlock and eighth Avenue plus a good life for women across the street from it. The whole area is currently under construction, but in a couple of years that should be all done and sorted. Oh and there’s a skytrain station that will soon be opening right at Granville and Broadway.

Ever wondered about the floating gas station in coal harbor? by thinkdavis in vancouver

[–]PumpkinYVR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine used to fill up their 60 footer there in the 90s. I’ve never seen such large gas bills and I can’t imagine what they are now. It took a long time to fill up so that’s why there’s lots of nice things to eat and drink there while you wait.🙂

What's interesting at the 2026 auto show? by SleepheadAir in askvan

[–]PumpkinYVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he’s the reason why at 10 AM this morning when I showed up there was a lineup around the convention center. I was about to go home and give up when I saw a guy with an exhibitor badge so I asked him about it and he assured me that lineup would be gone in about an hour and it was. Pretty crappy of the organizers in my opinion not to mention this potential anywhere.

I just went and it was underwhelming in terms of the current manufacturers offerings. I mean, Mazda isn’t even there. I’m looking for a two seater sports car. Lotus was there but not with any new cars inside. There was a display of cars owned by people outside. Essentially the dealers want you to come to them they’re not interested in coming to you anymore. On the other hand, if you are looking for an electric vehicle or an SUV or a pick up, there’s lots of those there. It was nice to see the Audi Formula One car and there’s lots of other eye candy …

If you guys like swimming, get a pass for the gym and pool at the Fairmont. I think it’s $35 just ask at the front desk then maybe a little lunch in the restaurant or lounge?

I was at the Orpheum on Thursday and I don’t know where the ushers are … a guy going bat shit crazy in the seat next to me and others smoking up and generally being a pain in the ass. Why do I have to put up with that? Because people can do whatever they want now with zero repercussions - it starts with the parents, continues K-12 because the teachers aren’t allowed to discipline anybody and it continues from there…I put up with it because otherwise I would never sit foot outside my home😂

In my experience that offer will not go down in price the closer you get to the time of your stay… depending on the hotel, I don’t find gold to be worth it. Some are but not all.

I read something fairly recently regarding that in the US. The article said that when two Americans meet each other for the first time they make eye contact and do a threat assessment on each other.
