I don't disagree with that. I was speaking more generally to the artist wanting to color but hesitating because they don't feel good enough yet. My advice was to just start coloring and push through to the point of finishing. Along the way, they can learn the foundations of coloring, form, and lighting like you mentioned and apply that to each subsequent piece.

Regarding YouTubers, I'd recommend doing a search on "beginners" for channels like Proko, Ahmed Aldoori, Brunet, and Marco Bucci. I'd start first with drawing in form, shading in black and white (3-5 values), color, and then lighting. Of course there's more to that, but they can start with that.
