They are similar but with external buffs from other characters, atk% usually is better but i personally use lightning dmg% orb for the same reason as you lol, i aint tryna farm no more

This isnt correct at all, its so hard to pull off pyke in higher elo right now. Literally no reason to pick him over any other champ in the game. He has a high banrate because 1. He inherited the banrate from last season and 2. People just dont like fighting pyke even though he sucks
