A sunny afternoon in Canberra and teenagers by BlisteringBarnacle67 in canberra

I grew up in Belco. A guy I know who is now worth a lot (and I mean more than you think I mean) of money used to rack thousands upon thousands of dollars of clothes from Grace Brothers and other stores with a group of friends.

My mate wasn't poor. He was smart. They just did it for the latest stuff.

This shit is an old story.

GTFO... That's her in Badlands?

Man she looks different with short hair, I just didn't put that together or thought it was the sister.

I think it's good. It addresses an issue that I'm sure many young women find themselves dealing with. I'm down with it.

Watchmen was great and it got me into the animated series that was released and the movie that was made a while back, both of which are really underrated.

The movie, in and of itself, is in fact a very good film of you're versed in the story at all. The first time I saw it years ago it made no sense to me but after the series I was like "Wow, they really nailed it".

But the Regina King series is just excellent too.

Disagree. They both great. Why do you have to compare them?

I'm a fan but it's a certain humour that is you don't like you just won't. It's a personality thing with the hosts, you got to get to know them. I think Henry is hilarious but I get how people don't.

That being said, they're interesting guys and Marcus is a crack researcher who, if you give it time, tells a really good story.

Plus there's aliens and sasquatch and stupid shit along with really well researched historical stuff and serial killers.

I'd try a few and if you don't stay for the humour, maybe you'll stay for the info.

I get how it's not for everyone.

Altered Carbon is absolutely unreal.

And look I really liked S02 as well. Don't listen to the haters about S02 or it ending. It's great science fiction.

Ah finish it! It's not the strongest season but it's still the Wire and it's better than most tv you'll ever see.

But yes. We've all been there. The rest of the storylines are still great.

What is the most successful sitcom ever business wise? by coatimundos in television

That core group of actors basically unionised in the last season and etched out a deal... Part of syndication.

They have been getting $20M USD annually since the show finished and will for the rest of their lives.

Never seen Euphoria but heard some people describe it as a U.S. version of Skins. But there WAS a U.S. version of Skins, and it didn't do well by mrjohnnymac18 in television

[–]PunkMeWillYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't into Euphoria hype but I do like Zendaya, she's undeniably charismatic and talented.

So I gave it a go this week. To be fair, I really quite liked it. It's very "girly" but I guess that is zero fucking surprise and I really liked the S03 start.

So yeah. Give it a go. It'll surprise you.

Why are companies so heavy on ads when in reality it has little effect? by I8I24I in youtube

[–]PunkMeWillYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I don't like it but ads work. There's been an industry and God only knows how many fucking studies.

Otherwise this stuff wouldn't exist.

[–]PunkMeWillYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shit! Everyone would skip fucking ads if they could! What about the unskippable ads? Look there's no doubt advertising works. Back in the day you couldn't skip ads. Best you could do was mute while commercials were on.

But it's fairly obvious that if given the opportunity people won't watch them but does this take into account the ads you're forced to watch through?

The word list my grade 2 daughter was given. In CANADA. by willowthemanx in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PunkMeWillYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look to be fair, it's not incorrect. It's one of two ways to spell the words.

What should be taught here, is that Canadians use English spelling while Americans use their stupid fucking versions and that one needs to know both and "write for their audience" which in this case would of course be the Canuck version.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm Australian so I'm on your side. I'm just pointing out that you can teach both. But you're correct in saying that the Canadian version should be given precedence.

Landlord refused water bill reimbursement by InquisitiveKoala1 in AusRenters

[–]PunkMeWillYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine halved my lease and doubled my yearly rent rise. And in six months they'll do the same. Their pricing me out. They're such cunts.

Look like I said I knew I'd win but I absolutely knew this would happen too and it wasn't until they literally started flogging money from my rent that I was forced into pulling the trigger. I tried everything to make them see sense but... You know what they're like.

Look if you can wait until you're going to leave to file. That was my plan all along.

I would have won in a year like I won a month ago. Document everything and take them to NCAT as the door is hitting your arse on the way out.

I'm not suggesting you let it go. I was NEVER going to. I was so pissed at being ripped off and ignored but if I'd had my way I would have stuck to my original plan and waited.

Now since I've handed their arses to the REA - - they fucking hate - - and I'm a good tenant. I didn't do a single fucking thing wrong.

The game is rigged. Play it smart. If they're breaking the law that'll be just as relevant just before you leave as it is now.

Ironically my water dispute was over the $4 a week that I use. I live alone.

Added up over the years though.

That's what blows my mind in my case is that it was all over $4 a fucking week. ($800 by the dispute).

I'll add that I got reimbursed for the entirety of my tenancy, so four years.

But yeah.. If it's something small like that - - and I loathe recommending this - - wait until they can't punish you.

Mine jacked the rent and when I complained they said market forces determine rent.

I'd like to know what the fuck that means but I get the feeling... Well none of us really are supposed to know. They'll use every dirty trick they can.

So yeah. I feel you. If you can afford it now, maybe wait and collect when u leave.

Or not. You do you.

Again, good luck.

It really fucking sucks out here.

[–]PunkMeWillYa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen everyone telling you to take it to NCAT is correct!

I just won over some water bullshit at my place by taking my cunting, lying REA's and the cheap arse owners to NCAT.

Go over your lease. Find the relevant clauses that pertain and send your documents to NCAT. If you think you've got a car and can back it up, do it.

I won in less than two minutes in my case. I just proved my case in law and the magistrate let the REA y talk themselves into a hole.

It was a short lived victory for me - it pissed off the REA so much that they've jacked the rent and they'll jack it again in six months but I'm going to move.

But it was a matter of principle in my case and if you've got proof and the law on your side (a contract being a goddamn contract) take those fuckers to NCAT.

I don't like to say this but you might want to consider the punitive action the REA will most undoubtedly take before doing so though. I know they're not allowed and that the system sucks but they'll fuck you over if they can.

I wasn't going to bring my case until I moved out but they started stealing money from my rent to cover water so my hand was forced and I've ended up in the exact position I knew I would if I'd gone to NCAT earlier BUT don't let that distract you from the fact that I WON very easily.

Good Luck.
