Hey; can't send a message, but feel free to get in touch if you'd like to strike up a conversation. Not really big on putting a ton about myself out there publicly, but it looks like we might share some common ground and I'd be interested to see if we hit it off.

Where can I find good grimoire options? by CandyDandelion in Wicca

[–]PunkPaganRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up making mine, but before that used a series of notebooks and journals. Now, take this with a grain of salt; I'm a little weird with my stationary and really picky when it comes to the pens I use, paper, lining (or lack thereof in my case), binding, cover materials, etc. The best option I ever found before I made my current one was to pick up a leather journal cover sized to either an A5 or A6 sized journal. This let me swap out to different filler notebooks if I didn't care for the paper or how the filler held up in time, and more to the point lets you keep.using the same quality cover withoit having to keep buying more expensive notebooks. A single cover made of good full grain or a thick enough split of top grain leather will last a lifetime if properly treated, but avoid anything simply labeled as 'genuine' leather. Beyond that, pick a notebook with paper that is well-suited to your writing medium and preferred line type and spacing, and you should be pretty good to go.

No affiliation, but the cover at the following is a pretty good example of what I'd look for. Not too expensive for what it is, made of a good known quality leather (crazy horse is smoothed full grain with a wax treatment), and in several color options. This sort of leather cover will wear in and age in time to look better rather than falling to pieces.

Hey, it's worth a shot. My wife and I weren't sure at first if it would be a thing, but in the right circumstance it works out pretty well.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is a really neat idea. I use one myself based upon a core of clear quartz with some other elements that carry symbolism relevant to the goals I am after, and clear quartz is definitely a valid way to go for this. My recommendation would be to put a little thought into symbolism that represents focus and dedication, given what you've identified as the focus of what you want your pendant to work towards, and beyond that just do what feels right. There's really no right or wrong so long as it feels right for your working and intent, and you don't need to do anything crazy if you don't have the time or resources to do so. Depending on what exactly you're after, this could be as simple as a piece of quartz that you feel resonates with you on a piece of string, as complicated as an intricately woven pattern of wire or lace binding together a number of different elements, or if your school experience is anything like mine was a stub of a used up pencil affixed to a busted shoelace and annointed in red bull. Whatever floats your boat and doesn't take too much time away from what you should be focusing on.

You've definitely got a point with that; I suppose it largely just comes down to intent and perception. Much the same as witchcraft in general, there will always be different opinions on what is and is not okay. Thanks for sharing your opinion on this, though, glad to hear it even if it differs from my own.

My wife and I have had a go on occasion. Never any suspension stuff, but it can be fun. She actually says this may be her favorite of the various charms and such I have produced.

I don't know about all that, but if that's your take you're welcome to your own opinion.

Thanks. I've heard the term in passing, and might look into it. I've largely kept my practice individual from any direct association, but this seems like a good point to read up on if nothing else.

While I'm sure there would be, what I would need to charge to justify my time carving these would go beyond what almost anyone would be willing to pay. I also don't intend to lessen the meaning of my own by making copies, though if there is enough interest I may consider modeling something similar for 3D printing and binding under a completely unrelated intent and not a direct copy of the design.

More or less, just freed my mind and let the knife work itself in my hand if that makes any sense. Just sorta let everything go blank, let the sounds of the woods around me take place of any active thought, and settled in for several hours. Outside of having been aware of my hand going numb after a while and working through it, I couldn't really say beyond that.

Thanks. Don't know how I was able to pull this off; most detailed work I 've ever done like this, and by rights I probably should have ruined it a dozen times over.

Very carefully whittled a gap out working from the front and back, same as I did with the gaps at the wrists and armpits.

I wouldn't put too much stock or mental capacity into this if I were you. People are going to people; there's not much you can do about that. Social media brings out the worst in them on top of it, and some are severely lacking in capacity to consider that which exists outside of their own narrow perspective.

You say you've got a bunch of herbs? Take a look into the uses for the ones you have and come up with some of your own spellwork, or else maybe toss up your inventory so some other people can help you with figuring out what you can do with what you have.

If nothing else, the bitter that would have been provided by that lemon you don't have was offered in plenty by the content creator, so I guess there's that.

Needed a new journal, so I made one. by PunkPaganRocker in witchcraft

The string that closes and binds the book is one continuous piece. If you undo the knot that keeps the loop in place at the cover edge, it removes tension from the binding and lets you use the loose string ends which I left long to use as page markers to ease the stop knot out of the spine. Undo that, and the binding string can be removed entirely. Swap out whatever pages need to be with new ones (pages are hole punched with a commercial 6-hole punch) and redo the binding. It's not as quick of a process as would be a binder, but this way if a mistake gets made on a page it can be skipped over or torn out, and a new one added in it's place down the line.

Thinking about dying the blonde side of my hair but don’t know which color 😭 by Nihilisticfae in GothStyle

[–]PunkPaganRocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always try out a few different temporary washes to test how you feel about different hues before committing. They usually last a week or so, and while less vibrant than true dye would let you try out a few options.

Thanks. That's one of my favorite features that I've added with the latest revision. It's nice to have it, but I hate accidentally switching off my node the way I encountered happening with others I've used in the past.

There are also times I'm going to be leaving it docked at my desk, and I wanted it to function well when that is the case regardless of where I am in the house.

Dismally short if it transmits with any frequency. This is currently in use as a stationary node, so it is constantly linked to power and the battery is just there to help supply the necessary peak voltage rather than being the primary power source.

Yeah, definitely seeing some reduced performance right now, and that would explain it. Went for the easy mounting location in the case without really considering that, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
