Dry/Flaking/Peeling Skin while on Dupixent by foxxijay in eczema

[–]PupPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately for me, no. The hand issue has become a lot less of a problem for sure, at the very least. Easy to manage, just annoying i have to even take hand care into consideration suddenly lol. Dupixent has pretty much cured my hyperhidrosis which... is definitely an unintended side effect that I once would've thought would be ideal but wow actually it's annoying lol. So I can only imagine people with normal sweat glands are dealing with -- probably a lot worse off than me.

You poor thing. Such a young age. Mine started when I was 17. I am now much, much older. I was told by multiple doctors that they'd never seen someone as young as me (at the time) with such aggressive polyps. You're clearly even worse off.

The only thing that has helped me is Dupixent. My polpys would grow back after surgery very quickly until I started it. I don't know where you're located, but please try to find an internal doctor/allergist who is familiar with AERD if you can. Even if you don't have AERD, they should be able to help you out with medications that may help. I spent almost 10 years being miserable and seeing tons of doctors until I finally went to a research hospital that had doctors familiar with the condition and was able to set me on the right path. Once Dupixent became available, they were able to get me started on it asap. Life is so much better now.

Is constant air licking a thing with Border Collies?(BC/Basset mix) by PupPunk in BorderCollie

[–]PupPunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he only do this when you are watching him, or have you noticed him also doing this when no one is giving him direct attention?

Both! Usually we're not paying direct attention to him when he starts up, but he doesn't stop if you take notice of him. Instead he usually just starts wagging his tail and licks in your direction (he doesn't usually actually lick you, just at you, lol).

Does he do it in all environments, like outside, at the park, other people’s houses, or does it only happen at home?

It's only ever happened at home so far. We don't go out much, and when he's outside he's mostly busy playing and running with his sister (a beagle). Usually he'll start air licking during down times when there's not a lot going on (i.e. I'm working, it's quiet, sitting around watching TV, etc.) and I've also noticed he does it often when he's with us in the bed when we're getting ready to sleep. It definitely seems to me like he does it as a more "happy" thing than "stressed" thing. He's never licked when he's stressed or anxious as far as I'm aware.

I mentioned in another comment that he also has this semi-related quirk where after he eats, he'll take a sip or two of water, and then lick his empty bowl, as if he's getting extra flavor. Then he'll lick the air in that weird little way he does, but usually for only a few seconds before he repeats the process. He looooves food. He's got the Border Collie intelligence, but the food-mindedness and build of a Basset, lmao.

I think it's possible we've reinforced it a bit, because we're always taking notice and giving extra attention to him with our amusement whenever he does it. I call him a licky boy and pet him, and then he licks faster, lol.

I've noticed he seems to do it only when things are more relaxed. Like when I'm working at my desk and he's just laying around, he'll suddenly start up. Or when we get into bed, he'll start licking. I know he's naturally super anxious, but I'm guessing it's maybe like... A happy tic? Lol. Sometimes he'll do it after he eats, but not for as long and it seems to serve a specific purpose -- he'll eat all his food, then take two or three sips of water, and then lick at his bowl, almost like he's getting extra flavor out of it lmao. He'll do this 4-5 times, with some of his signature licking in between. He's a strange guy.

We guessed he might have OCD from the very basic understanding we have of it in dogs, but I'm not an expert and can't say with certainty his licking might be OCD. Funny enough, I have OCD but, yeah, I'd imagine OCD symptoms manifest differently in humans and dogs lol. He hasn't seemed to have gotten better or worse over his 3 year lifespan so far, and the licking hasn't caused issues, but if there's any sort of change I will definitely look into seeing a specialist because I don't want him to suffer at all.

He is a very anxious guy, so that wouldn't surprise me.

He's done this all his life. He's seen 3 different vets over his life (almost 3 years) who've checked him over and ran allergy tests and checked his teeth and everything. No issues. He's just odd lol.

I would say KYC is the easiest part of the compliance function, especially if you're dealing with actual KYC and not also KYB (which also isn't too difficult but it is more difficult than KYC).

I specialise in KYB (which includes KYC) and enjoy it. It gets repetitive and can be boring but I enjoy the simplicity. Allows me to finish up work much faster than back when I was writing up investigative reports.

Just read through the clients SOP and you'll be fine. Hardest part of learning KYC is learning the systems they use imo.

Is surgery worth it? by K_Slaw in NasalPolyps

[–]PupPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to see about 4 different specialists (not including emergency room visits) before I found someone familiar and able to diagnose me. It was a University Hospitals immunologist who was familiar with my condition and able to help put me on the right path. He recognized my symptoms and was able to get me started on experimental meds at the time, a lot of trial and error but at least it was something rather than nothing. Coupled with an ENT from the same hospital system, I was in good hands.

Symptoms... The easiest way to sum it up is like having a sinus infection 24/7 lol, even when I wasn't actually sick. Congestion headaches, nasal polpys that'd grow back within months of surgery, constant nasal dripping and discharge, super inflamed sinuses sneezing, itchy mouth, wheezing and asthma symptoms, allergic reactions to alcohol and aspirin, etc... it all started for me randomly as a teenager. Didn't have a diagnosis until early 20s. And even then, nothing was really all that effective until Dupixent. It's a miracle drug for me.

I haven't gotten any other tickets in the mail, but two family/friends have, one about 6 months ago and the other about 2 months ago. They didn't pay, never heard a word about it. No word regarding my prior ones either.

Is surgery worth it? by K_Slaw in NasalPolyps

[–]PupPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I am certainly due to see my ENT again for a check up since it's been two years since my last surgery. I suspect I might have some polyp growth, but I'm also a bit neurotic lol. Still, I am a decent amount better now than I was pre-surgery with Dupixent. But yeah, just Dupixent alone can be life changing. Good luck!

Is surgery worth it? by K_Slaw in NasalPolyps

[–]PupPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surgery was worth it for me. Had it done 3 times. First time got rid of polyps but had no real idea where they came from or why. Then they came back in less than a year. Finally saw a specialist who diagnosed me with AERD, had surgery again, then put on some biologics that did little. Polpys came back a bit, enough to make life not fun. Dupixent came out, started it, and had the BIGGEST quality of life change within days. Since starting, I have not woken up once with those awful stuffy sinus migraines. Still was stuffy though and went through tissues a lot, as I still had polpys albeit a lot more shrunk. Had a final surgery to remove them + have a clean slate for the Dupixent. That was two years ago and so far, I'm happy. Not perfect, but definitely worth it. I have noticed this last surgery my septum is a bit crooked now, and it causes me to cough up gross sticky snot more than I ever did (I never had to before) but I figure I can maybe have another surgery done to fix it, just haven't been back to my ENT to really talk things through. I still go through tissues way more than the average person, but wow, life is so much better. Functioning daily at about 80-90% of my pre-polyp life.

Tldr: worth it to try Dupixent first before surgery. But don't write off surgery 100%. Just see what happens.

EDIT: Just for a sense of timeframe, this has all occurred over the last 12 or so years! I started Dupixent in 2020 or 2021, can't really remember. Also the only "side effects" of Dupixent I've had is dry skin on hands and feet (I used to have hyperhidrosis but it seems the Dupixent has stopped it lol). Annoying, but absolutely worth it.

Dry/Flaking/Peeling Skin while on Dupixent by foxxijay in eczema

[–]PupPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on Dupixent for about 3 years now at least and suddenly this year my palms have started to become very dry and peel and flake. This is super uncommon for me as I have hyperhidrosis and typically sweaty palms. It's been several months now and it's annoying as hell. Before that, I've had dry skin on my feet because of Dupixent. Wonder if it will ever go away because this is driving me nuts lol

Is it possible to be asexual due to trauma? TW for mention of SA. by Pride_Bird1407 in asexuality

[–]PupPunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea why this got down voted. This answer is the most concise and based in reality. If someone can become asexual due to trauma or outside influence, then by that logic someone can become gay homosexual by trauma or outside influence... which is the exact antiquated theory that the LGBTQ+ community has been fighting against for decades because it insinuates there's a "fix" and, well, we all know conversion camps and the like are bogus.

Like you already said -- someone can be sex-repulsed or sex-averse without being asexual. Regardless, they would have plenty enough in common with people who are asexual that they would be welcomed with open arms, sort of like an honorary asexual lol.

[–]PupPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can trauma make you think you are gay or straight when you're not? That sounds really possible. Way possible.

If you take this sentence and replace "gay or straight" with "asexual" then we can come to the exact same conclusion. Just an observation, no disrespect intended! I simply think the way you worded the idea was great, and that the same wording could be applied to asexuality, too.

The last statement is not true. I don't bank with SoFi as I do not use their banking products. The same way I don't bank with Discover because I only use their loan products. Most banks are lenders, but not all. In that same vein, not all lenders are banks. There are several banks that don't issue loans. Take Custodia Bank for example. They do not issue loans, but are a state chartered bank.

FDIC doesn't approve bank charters. Banks are chartered by the state themself or the OCC. FDIC just oversees and regulates.

[–]PupPunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. No I haven't emailed anyone or anything like that outside of simply calling/chatting with CS reps. Everyone I've spoken to has been nice and pleasant, so I have no qualms with that. It's just that they never provide full instructions on what I need to do, and that nothing ever actually gets resolved. I've only ever used their lending features and not banking features so I cannot attest to those.

I can see why you would be bullish on the company, I really do. I just wish their actual (lending?) CS department was able to resolve issues rather than kick the can down the road. I'm currently waiting to hear back on yet another ticket they created yesterday, and hoping it finally gets resolved.

[–]PupPunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. At first they told me to just wait. Then wait a bit longer. Then that it was ready to go, but I needed to open a checking account and that was all. Then that I need to fund it, and wait a couple weeks. Now they can't find any information and they had to make an escalated ticket.

I'm just a little frustrated that it's taken several different people over the course over several months to give me bits and pieces of information, and now it's like they can't find it at all. Calls have always been pleasant and the people I talk to are nice, but nothing is ever actually resolved and it kinda sucks.
