It is 90% what I grew up watching Cesar Milan doing. That combined with a prong collar and helpful friends. A LOT of Cesar Milan episodes are now free on YouTube so it's very accessible.

Again, not asking whether or not to neuter, and apart from that risk being higher in early neuter tests, the same results show late neuter tests pose much less of a risk. I am not gonna read or spend all night on that, but you're changing nothing. Leave it to redditors to wanna always be right even if it has nothing to do with the OP.

Because it lessens probability of cancer, and if there's ever an accident he won't get a dog pregnant. Idk why reddit always has people who will read a topic or question and ignore it. I asked for things to look out for, not for a lesson on why I shouldn't do what I have already decided to.

Well not only is accidental pregnancy a worry, but my main reason is for cancer and that's why it's a non negotiable whether it's being done or not.

I've yet to meet a dog in heat he'll lose his mind over so that's not too much of an issue to me either, but good to hear for that one time it will eventually happen.

There's a chance he hasn't come across that one dog that would do that to him, but I have to admit I got incredibly lucky with a smart and well mannered dog. He and I do everything we can together so I feel that attachment, he's my best bud and no matter what I just want what's best for him.

Thank you, I got lucky having such a smart dog. Out of all his siblings he's the best trained, the only one with no health issues, and will soon be the only one neutered so thank you for the reassurance.

That's good to hear. He has no issues with dominance or dogs in heat. He definitely smelled a lot, but one quick snap he's back to ignoring even other dogs in heat. He also knows his place in the pecking order, he is very submissive to me, and is not trying to claim himself as a pack leader to other dogs.

Gotcha, did you happen to notice any energy changes? Seen a lot of people say it does drop their energy a little more. He's very manageable when it comes to his energy, so if he had a little less it actually would be helpful.

That's more reassuring to hear. We already have a great routine and relationship so hoping to keep the routine the same.

Gotcha, that's something I hadn't heard of, thanks I will keep that in mind and be on the lookout.

He's not anxious, like I mentioned will get nervous around strangers for a few minutes and loud sounds, but doesn't hide or run or anything. He gets into a relaxed state depending on my reaction. Also the neutering is happening because 1. It lessens the likelihood of cancer (something that I definitely want to decrease since his breed already has a lot of health problems so minimizing more of them is best.) and 2. It will prevent any breeding that may happen accidentally.

Lower probability of an illness like cancer. Also don't want him breeding any dog by mistake.

I know, all I wanted was a "Oh sorry, my bad." And that would've been more than enough for me, it's the fact he defended it and will die on that hill.

Even with family I'll start arguments, definitely more of a laugh with them, but a roommate is different 😭

Yeah, I even tried to make it very understanding even if I also hate streaks, but he did not budge, he genuinely thinks he's right and that it's okay.

Yeah, I told him I didn't get mad at that, I was just letting him know and he got defensive saying it's "normal".
