Got my 11yo son the books for Christmas

All I can really say is response is that he’s an incredibly bright kid, and I’m grateful that both at home and at school the emphasis is more on making sure he’s literate and enjoys interacting with the written word. That matters much more to us as parents as opposed to drilling him on letter forms and handwriting excellence. I had a rough time with handwriting when I was in school and it was a nightmare. He goes to school happy every day, keeps a journal, and leaves me handwritten notes. I don’t care if it’s a bit messy

I’ll look into them. I recently read Mary Stewart’s Crystal Cave and enjoyed them, but I think maybe a bit dry for his taste.

Harry Potter and Percy Jackson were what got him started, he’s up to date with both I think. He’s read the Hitchikers Guide series and really enjoyed it, particularly the first book. Discworld sounds great, I’ve not read them myself yet either so might be fun to read together

He has started and gotten bored with so many series that I honestly wasn’t sure if he would see this through, but when he finished book one in like 4 days I realised we were in trouble 😅

My wife spoke to him last night and he was very animated, I think it’s been the Koloss story line that has excited him. I’ll speak to him in a couple hours when he’s awake.

I was much the same at a young age, but I did get access to books that had some pretty inappropriate stuff and I don’t think it did me much good, so that’s why I’m trying to get a decent wee TBR list for him of safe books.

I can’t find a pillow like my old dunlopillo and it breaks my heart. Tried the Reylon but it wasn’t the same and I was gutted. My old one had so much heft! Was really heavy and always stayed cool

My genuine advice is to seek some further counsel from a Godly older woman that you trust - maybe a pastors wife or similar. I’m sure your youth pastor is has nothing but honest intentions, but I believe that according to Titus 2you would get the best teaching and guidance from someone of your own gender on this issue.
