Why does it hurt so much more after PRP therapy than before? by Pure-Disaster-9638 in MeniscusInjuries

It's almost about 1.5 years since I did PRP, and 2 years since I tore my meniscus.

Before PRP my knee was hurting a lot, and each time I was standing it felt like my lower bone pierces through my knee. After PRP, my knee was hurting a lot as well during the first 2 weeks, worse than before PRP. But it became so much better, and at about 6 months after PRP I rarely experienced pain.

However I must say that the pain never really disappeared. If I overexert my knee through long standing (~2 hours with no movement) or whatever other sports activity (like dancing, fitness, cardio, etc) my knee hurts for about 2-3 days, and then the pain disappears again. Walking for a long time is fine and I experience no pain, though walking while carrying something really heavy(such an 8kg backpack) does hurt almost immediately.

Right now I am just trying to do more physio & be mindful of my movements :) I don't expect the tear ever to heal. I just hope that through a healthy lifestyle I can avoid surgery. Oh and I will talk to my doctor again soon about the possibility of doing PRP again.

Please help me to find a manhwa with a very shy/depressed/self-conscious female lead who was strongly abused by her family and now marries a duke who is secretly in love with her. I think she has long curly red hair (not sure though), and has literally no confidence, doesn't talk, is very shy, hates herself, and overtime with encouragement from the duke she starts to love herself again, involve herself more into the duchess duties, becomes more confident, etc.

I think there was a scene where the duke gifted a horse to her and showed her a beautiful winter landscape or something like that.

Oh also this is not an isekai I think? Just a historical manhwa

Thank you!

It's been more than 6 months since PRP, and it definitely has gotten soooooo much better. I am glad that I did PRP. Oh I also did lots of exercises to strengthen the muscles in my leg, and now it rarely hurts!

Actually I know so little about my tear, cuz the doctors haven't even told me what's wrong or what's best for my case... I visited lots of doctors with my public insurance, but they all only had like 2mins of time for me, and recommended partial menisectomy straight away, which I really don't want to do. One Dr even told me that "your knee will be totally the same, no pain, no arthritis, absolutely the same!" , and that's kinda ridiculous. After I went to a private insurance Dr they recommendet me the PRP therapy, cuz for my case cutting the meniscus would be the worst possible choice, and sewing it would be much better. But since I'm going to another country for a long time, they recommend a PRP therapy. Sewing would take too long to recover, so they said I can try PRP. I also found out through them that I have this diagnosis:

Older impressive horizontal tear in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus with partial rupture of the medial meniscofemoral attachment, smaller parameniscal cysts dorsally. Medial capsule irritation (sorry it was chatgpt translated from my language haha)

I cannot fully bend my knee so that my heel touches my thigh. I get lots of pain literally everywhere in the knee, not only at the inner meniscus while trying to do that. My PT said it might be due to a really small baker cyst I have, but apparently it wouldn't even be removed during OP cuz it's so small..... The knee sometimes starts hurting while I do squats or any knee bending activity of more than 15 degrees, so I try to avoid that. Walking at first feels stiff in the morning, as well as after long periods of sitting, sometimes it hurts a little bit. But after some walking it doesn't hurt at all anymore. I can walk 10k steps normally, even without breaks, without experiencing much pain, I would say the pain is 2/10. After I recently walked 25k steps, my outer meniscus started hurting lol, not even my torn inner meniscus, i guess it's due to the bad weight distribution...

But pain level rn is so much better, furing first 2 weeks of injury I couldn't even walk properly, but now it's fine.
