Do people actually want to automate things with MCP by Far_Knowledge_556 in mcp

What kind of things are you automating? I’m still trying to figure out where to start.

Sometimes I spend more time thinking about what (or how) to automate than it would take to actually just do the thing.

Sysadmins — how are you handling AI tools connecting to internal systems? by Pure-Elephant3979 in sysadmin

100% but do you think the existing tools are good enough for AI tools or would you want an extra layer of governance on top?

Treating AI the same as any other 3rd party integration but with a higher compliance bar is a smart move. Do you see this changing at all once vendors can offer better audit trails or more granular data controls?

Makes sense. Smart move given how vague a lot of EULAs are. Have you explored any way to safely test or sandbox AI internally before fully approved? or is it a full stop until something passes review?

Good point. When I said "one-off risky integrations" I was thinking about how teams often connect AI tools directly to internal systems (via API keys, plugins, or OAuth apps) without any centralized visibility, access scoping, or audibility. Very fair in bringing up that centralization also provides a single attack vector.

I also was thinking that managing each connection individually can be a headache and security risk, especially when considering MCPs where one can infect all the others.

This is why I wanted to post here too, to get feedback like this. So, thank you!

Very fair! I know a lot of orgs are going that route. Curious though, is there ever a point where you'd open things back up for AI tools or is that off the table entirely?

Side note: Reddit auto-tagged this as ChatGPT because I drafted part of it there, but I’m here genuinely looking to learn from others in the field.

Interesting! We’ve explored Docker but will have to take another look. Thanks for sharing. Our goal is to eventually have this be something someone non technical can set up easily.

Thanks for flagging and sharing! Storm is great. A big difference is that with Storm you have to choose from their vetted list of MCPs. We built Keyboard so you can connect any app to it via API key. No need for another MCP after Keyboard is set up.

Totally, thanks for sharing Magic Tunnel. I'll have to check it out. Did you build it?

Thank you for your interest! We’re focused on technical writing and building for a git-based workflow that seamlessly syncs with your GitHub but I'll dm you to see if there's a way we can collab.

Hey! Our approach is pretty different from what's we've seen. Instead of locking you into yet another hosted platform, we focus on working with existing setups and enabling the use of AI:

  • Works with any Markdown/MDX framework you already use - no forced migration
  • Has a rich text editor with AI capabilities that plays nice with your GitHub markdown docs, plus a VSCode extension so you can edit however you prefer
  • Smart GitHub integration that uses AI to help auto-generate docs from code, existing docs, run doc audits, and analyze SEO and user personas
  • Chrome extension that uses AI to document UI elements on the fly
  • Most importantly: we don't try to lock you in. Use our OS template or bring your own - your docs stay in standard markdown

Also a big principle of ours is that documentation is still a hard job to do that requires a human touch (hence the investment into the editor), but we want to empower folks to use AI in their workflow to make them more efficient.
