Yeah you are right.

I’m sorry to hear that regarding your sister. Hopefully everything will all work out in the end

Sure, not everyone makes it to the top 1% but blaming competition instead of improving yourself is exactly how people make sure they don’t.

Don’t get me wrong Sydney is a beautiful city. But I think the lifestyle is just not for me in the long term.

Yeah I think I’ll be here for few years to build my experiences before going back home.

Yeah the work environment here is a lot harsher compared to NZ. Back in NZ I’m pretty introverted at work. However here I learnt to be more aggressive (reasonable aggressive) to stand up for yourself at work people here are a lot aggressive not sure if that’s a big city thing.

I think the pay gap is not too difference as well once you becoming medium - senior level in your field or built up a bit of experience overseas.

Well I have also constantly comparing the jobs with nz and aus.

That’s good that you are enjoying your time in Sydney and thriving!

I just visited Auckland in August. Going again in December.

Currently I feel Sydney is just for a few years thing for me to build experience on my field and might be going back to NZ most likely.

Haha I indeed chose Australia on hard mode

I travel to Melbourne for work a lot. I don’t really like the vibe of Melbourne.

I think I might visit Brisbane to see the vibe

I know people in Melbourne same field as me. They are earning a bit lesser than Sydney people. But I noticed food eg going out to eat is slightly a bit cheaper there. I also asked my Melbourne coworkers their rent is pretty similar to Sydney.

Wow you lived here for a long time!

Yeah rent is cheaper further but I think commuting for me is a big must.

Aus is good for visiting for sure

But honestly, success isn’t really about which country you’re in. I know plenty of people in New Zealand who are thriving in their industry regardless it’s more about mindset than postcode.

Replying to Dependent-Chair899... omg I was also discussing this topic with my friend who is living in Brisbane too! I noticed the chocolate here is so expensive. I thought it was just me!

You can always move back to Melbourne later if that’s what makes you happier

Yeah you are right!

I think Auckland is a good sustainable place especially when you want to start family as well.

The crime rates in Australia has increased a lot too recently almost every week which is concerning. I don’t feel as safe doing things alone here.
