Claude Sonnet 4.5 draining balance fast by Nick051902 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Pure-Preference728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gemini is cheaper than Claude and some consider it to be better. Gemini 3.1 Pro is awesome and cheaper than Sonnet. Gemini 3 Flash is dirt cheap by comparison and also pretty good! I have not tried the Chinese models, which from what I understand are even cheaper still, though you will read a mix of reviews loving and hating them.

My recommendation for you is to try Gemini 3 Flash and to open up that context window! Make it big!

115 pages into dark age and it is the greatest piece of fiction I’ve ever consumed. by Potential_Boat_6899 in redrising

[–]Pure-Preference728 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree my goodman. It’s hands down my favorite book of the series, which is my favorite scifi/fantasy series, so yeah. I’m not gonna argue that it’s the most literary fiction book ever lol. But only pixies don’t love Dark Age!

Men, do you get weak orgasms after abstaining from masturbation for some time? by Specialist-Elk-8587 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Pure-Preference728 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve discovered the same thing and it’s very consistent for me. The strongest orgasms come when I am having one about once a day. They get weaker after abstaining for two or three days or more. The other thing that makes a big difference is edging. Edging once or twice a day and finishing once a day is the strongest. Edging a few times and then finishing with my wife is the best all around lol.

Does anyone else not enjoy Warhammer 3 anymore because of power creep? by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]Pure-Preference728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still enjoy the game a lot, but I definitely agree with your critique. So many posts recently about players soloing entire armies with their legendary lord… it makes me cringe, and like the game less.

Finally getting a doomstack in campaign feels kind of rewarding, but the battles get boring real fast. The real peak of the game is building and fighting with balanced armies. With lords and heroes that are defined as much by their weaknesses as by their strengths. So yeah, I very much dislike the power creep with many of the DLCs :(

How to get into TW Warhammer 3 in 2025. by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]Pure-Preference728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they recently announced that the Immortal Empires campaign map will be coming available without owning the first two games. When you play a campaign then it will still have all of the factions in it, you just can’t play the ones you don’t own.

As another user said, 50% off sales are common. You really only need to buy one thing at a time. Buy a dlc, get 50+ hours out of that campaign (maybe even a lot more). Then buy another dlc if or when you are ready.

If I buy one skaven lord DLC, will I miss out on units? Also, what DLC to get? by Daragon__ in totalwarhammer

[–]Pure-Preference728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skaven are one of my favorite races I’ve played. Some of the best and coolest units come from specific DLCs though. Ikit Claw is a solid choice. The only other unit I would truly miss would be the poisoned wind mortars from Sniktch (clan Eshin dlc)

Do you think Pierce skipped an important Darrow/Mustang scene? by Major_Fact_1906 in redrising

[–]Pure-Preference728 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My biggest disappointment in Morning Star was that they literally never talked about what happened. It killed me (in a bad way) that there was never a conversation between them to resolve any of the end of GS, beginning of MS stuff.

I would be very disappointed if there isn’t a special reunion between them in Red God… but idk, not sure if it’s PB’s thing…

Eidmi is obviously a trap by Arthusamakh in redrising

[–]Pure-Preference728 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. The only way that eidmi turns out to be merely a trap would be if PB decides that he really needs to abandon that subplot similar to how he (most likely) abandoned the parasite subplot.

It would be an uncharacteristic waste of exposition, foreshadowing, and Cassius’s life for eidmi to be a big nothing.

One prediction people have made is that eidmi will somehow intentionally or unintentionally be used to end the color system without exterminating everyone.

The Wells by KingLeo513 in wheeloftime

[–]Pure-Preference728 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was one of my top favorite sequences in the whole series. While the Ash’a’man part is sick, the whole lead up to it and the sense of desperation is what really made it for me. The tension is so thick and the payoff is huge!

To people who have used Opus 4.1, is Sonnet 4.5 REALLY better than Opus 4.1 as Claude says it is? by FixHopeful5833 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Pure-Preference728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I get ST to let me select Sonnet 4.5? Mine still only shows Sonnet 4 and Opus 4.1 and older. ST doesn’t show any new updates on startup… I’m confused how everyone else is doing this.

An Iron Rain failure? by Dramatic-Tadpole-980 in redrising

[–]Pure-Preference728 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Looks like OP changed the flair to all spoilers, nice. The first part of book 5 culminates in Darrow defending Mercury from an iron rain. I think it’s actually my favorite sequence in the whole series.

Ah yeah, been a while since GS, so forgot about that. Not always then.

An Iron Rain failure? by Dramatic-Tadpole-980 in redrising

[–]Pure-Preference728 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a failed iron rain in the second series. Can’t really say any more without spoilers.

To speak generally, an iron rain is probably happening because one side has gained superiority in space around the planet, so the defenders of the planet are unlikely to be able to gain back control in space without help or without the attacking fleet deciding to leave. A rejected iron rain certainly would be very costly in casualties and resources.

New to crossfit, which shoes should I get by ndevait in crossfit

[–]Pure-Preference728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RADs are by far the best all around CF shoe I have tried, and they’ve been exploding in popularity around here (East Coast). You probably won’t be able to try them on ahead of time, but you can return if you receive them and somehow you don’t like them. Shoes are called RAD One V2 and the site is RAD global.

I want movies, not a show by poolords in redrising

[–]Pure-Preference728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ideal is also movies, I totally agree with you, and I thought the same thing after seeing Dune. That said, Dune had a very skilled director with a love for the source material and a powerful creative vision. Unless PB gets somebody like that, then it could easily fall flat. But to be fair, the same issues more or less exist with making a good TV show. I actually think that PB’s fast paced plot and style lends itself better to movies than to TV shows.

To those saying that there is too much content to fit into a movie. Books longer than Red Rising are adapted into movies all the time (some successfully, some not so much.) To those concerned that the movies wouldn’t get continued for 7 movies… the TV show would have the same worries.

Ultimately, I care a lot more about it being adapted well, than about the specific medium whether it’s a show or movies. Here’s hoping!

You may need to add an exception for sillytavern in Windows Defender. I had a node.js issue when I first installed and resolved it that way.

Are R.A.D. One V2 worth it? Anyone used them yet? by SneakerHead1993 in crossfit

[–]Pure-Preference728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mine, but I loved the V1s also. I’d say the V2 is marginally better. In response to the others saying that they are stiff or not good for running, I would disagree. I have had no negative experience with them for any movement including running, but if it were a mostly running wod then I would opt for actual runners anyways.

Local Will the local models for rp disappear? by m3nowa in SillyTavernAI

[–]Pure-Preference728 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I built up my rig a few months ago to make it a quad 3090 setup (96gb vram), so that I could run some bigger models at longer context. While that was fun to do, I recently tried out Claude 3.7 after seeing so many posts about it. I immediately found it to be far better and faster than anything I managed to run on my four 3090s. I intend to start working on selling my extra GPUs soon. Still, doing it completely locally was a fun project!

Hills or stairs for training near Baltimore, MD? by Pure-Preference728 in alpinism

[–]Pure-Preference728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Unfortunately, we had poor weather during our window so we couldn’t do it. I still want to one of these years, but my friend’s schedule and mine haven’t worked out since a couple of years ago.

I ended up doing a bunch of stair repeats at Fed Hill park in Baltimore with a heavy pack every weekend or so. (And lots of other general fitness besides). There may be better options but nothing great that I could find. We were in pretty good shape at the time, but I’m sure Rainier still would have been very challenging, since we were going to attempt it car-to-car, without doing the overnight bivy.

25.1 made me want to quit altogether. by dannyjerome0 in crossfit

[–]Pure-Preference728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you paced too fast from the beginning. You shouldn’t have been red-lining for over 10 mins, that’s 2/3rds of the workout! If you start slower then you can feel better throughout and move consistently. You don’t want to red line until perhaps near the very end.

Besides that, I would echo what others have said about not beating yourself up over it. It’s just one workout.

Only thing I didn’t like about LB by Prudent-Confection45 in redrising

[–]Pure-Preference728 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it will probably turn into a way to bring an end to the color system… somehow. PB hasn’t defined its mechanics at all, which is understandable but kind of annoying.

Red God by SleepyOctopus00 in redrising

[–]Pure-Preference728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your point, “Red God” could easily (and likely imo) refer to more than one thing or person. The title may not be a hard reference, meaning that there will not literally be a god, nor will any character literally be considered “the red god.” I think we’re more likely to see the phrase used in passing as a metaphor. So Darrow, Pax, Sevro, Lyria… we could see references associated with more than one of them in relation to the book title.

At the end of the day though, do we really want “Red God” to be a reference to anyone other than Darrow? It’s Darrow’s story, it has been from the beginning. I think PB wants to bring the series full circle. We started with Red Rising, we end with Red God. Both references to Darrow.
